I've read more irrationality over the past 21 hours than I can handle, so I think it's time to start thinking straight. How can the front office fix this mess, without getting too ridiculously extreme (like calling Kelly Holcomb). Regardless of this collapse, I still think there is a lot of good talent in place to succeed in time. Both lines need to be completely blown up. Who knows how our secondary has been able to do as well considering our pass rush is the worst I've seen in my life. The o-line is pathetic. A young, talented QB/RB combo will never do well with that sh-- in front of them. So what moves do we need to make?

1) Instead of giving up early draft picks, stockpile them.

2) Draft DTs.

3) Draft DEs.

4) Draft an OC.

5) Draft OGs.

6) Draft a good TE.

7) Most of all, Fire Jauron because he will not do any of the above, other than wasting 2 picks on McCargo who sucks.

See? Simple, right?

Being less predictable and establishing a balanced offense would cure a lot of problems as I don't talent is as much of an issue as it is scheming; especially on this side!

It all comes down to the head coaches mentality that need to be fixed. He needs to come in the game controlling the tempo from the starting gate. Once i saw the three and out on the first drive I knew the game was over. We also rushed on the first down something like 5 times in a row. ITs too predictable. Where was the playaction on first down, where is the Blitzing if the qb come on its a high scholl QB its not tom brady why were we playing scared!? Maybe I am the only one who saw it but both teams sucked on the field that day it was just the we sucked even more than they did we could not capitalize on anything. Lets start playing to win and stop playing not to lose.

Bring in outside help for the OC position, someone with experience. Only problem is it would have to wait until the seasons over, we can't revamp the offense mid way through the season, its just not happening.

Agreed. Offensively, get a base set of personnel and run 75% of your offense out of it. Get rid of the Fullback. It's like we have 10 guys on offense, because I've yet to see him do anything. Same thing with the multiple Tight End sets. Again, you're just wasting positions with talentless players. On our typical run you have Lynch, Fullback, and 2 TEs. So now we're down to 8 guys blocking 11 with Lynch getting slammed. It's absurd.

And just as you suggested, stop being so damn predictable. Use the no huddle a little to help establish a rhythm. Oh yeah, and go back to the original 5 linemen. Yeah fowler and Butler may suck, but they didn't suck as bad as Preston and Chambers or Preston and Whittle.

Defensively, send guys blitzes more. We've tried dropping the LBs into coverage and what has it done? Nothing. They back up and players run crossing routes in front of them for guaranteed positive yards everytime. They might as well be rushing the QB. Screw all this zone crap. Man the guys up, pressure the QB with all the LBs and let schit fly. Yeah they'll give up a few big plays. But so what. Give up a long 9 minute TD or give up pa quick 2 minute TD, either way they score.

Finally, call a few of the guys out and bench them next week. These guys are playing gutless, no heart football. Maybe give them an incentive - $1000 for every hit that makes a player drop the ball, $10,000 for every concussion they cause. Something.

Brad Butler has played reasonably well. He's hardly the problem.

I agree. So let's get his butt back on the field.

Nothing changes until new ownership....everything else is wheel-spinning and window dressing.

Let's be realistic. 5-4. Let's change the QB, OL, DL, RB, Coaching staff and the owner and do it TODAY. What's broken? Seemingly everything right now. What do they need to do? On Defense, figure out how to stop the short, underneath passing game. Figure out how to get to the QB without blitzing. Stop a freakin team in the 4th quarter. On offense, throw deep a few times. Doesn't matter if it's intercepted, doesn't matter if it's into triple coverage. Do that a few times, it backs the defense off just a bit and should open things up enough to get things going. Why not start hitting Parrish with the cheap, underneath garbage? They did it a few times yesterday and then just stopped. Figure out how to get Edwards' confidence back. Really, what needs to be done is to just go out and stomp the crap out of Brady Quinn and the Browns on Monday Night. I think they can win the next 4 if they get some things straightened out against some poor teams.

Blow it up and start over....

That is the most ridiculous idea....

They have a good nucleus of players that can play.... Edwards, Lynch, Evans....

They just can't get the OL to play cohesively.....The Jason Peters hold out has really hurt this team for the long run.....

They need to stop the opponents on 3rd and long.....Those long drives in the 4th qtr are just killing them....However this defense is built to stay off the field....They are too small to stay on the field for 38 minutes.......The Bills offense needs to take responsibility for that.....They have to stay on the field for long enough...To Do that the RUN GAME HAS TO BE EFFICIENT......

Coudlnt agree more. Starts from the top down. We need a football man in here...not brandon. We need a coach. This team is going no where until we get new owners, and the scary thing is when they get new owners they may leave the city. We have seen our last "buffalo" playoff team.

1. Fire Dick Jauron immediately, promote Bobby April to head coach, not on an interim basis, give him at least this remaining season and next. At least April has some innovation and is not unwilling to try something risky (see week 1)

2. Release Jason Peters. At this point he is not going to garner a good trade next season and ever since his return the OL has looked it's worst in years, trust me that other teams have noticed this too. Releasing him may light a fire underneath other players like Dockery or Fowler. No one has a safe job, you need to produce to stay here.

3. Drop the whole "high motor" and "character" requirements from 1st and 2nd on the list of good attributes. As long as this team stays away from the Pacman Jones' of the league I think it'll be okay. Randy Moss and TO have both become amazingly productive players on their teams but neither would have ever been considered here in Bflo because of "character". It's about winning, not feeling good. Teams with supposed "bad" chemistry seem to be winning much more than the Bills. Let's face it, "character" really means soft and more likely to follow Jauron's brainwashing.

4. Re-hire Marv Levy as only a draft specialist, while I hated the Jauron hire I did like Marv's drafts, this team aquired many starters from both. What did this team draft in 2008? A first round corner being outplayed by a fourth round corner and a tall WR who looks completely out of place? A third round DE who might as well never suit up?

Everyone wants to point to Trent's concussion as the start of the problems. I see it different. Calling off the dogs on defense has directly coincided with this meltdown. For the first 4 games of the season we played a very aggressive defense with a lot of different looks and blitzes. Worked great. Then against Arizona, we called off the dogs and played back and they ate our lunch. Then we went back to the aggressive defense against San Diego. Anyone remember the game winning play when Mitchell blitzed and forced the fumble? Then the last 3 weeks it's been back to playing back and cover 2 and zone and all that. We go back to pinning our ears back and bringing the heat a lot and we'll start winning again. Think Cassell would have done as well yesterday with Mitchell and Poz and Simpson breathing down his neck? He probably would have fumbled or thrown a pick.

Quinn is a rookie in his second game. A prime candidate for heavy blitz treatment.

The fix is so obvious. Why don't our coaches see it?
