SKOOBY
If Obama raises capital gains up from the current 15% to 35-45%, will that force RW to seek a new owner pre-death? Financially, the possibility of a 30% change on $800 is $240 Million swing against the Wilson family. That type of coin cannot be made up easily, so the question stands is Obama's office a godsend to the Bills that forces his hand early??
realtruelove
Absolutely. Ralph might be looking at selling the team as we speak.
thepizzaking
I'm not sure where the 35-45% number comes from. It will be more like 20-25% I would imagine, although even then that might be enough for what you're wondering to happen.

Any amount more than now may do the trick though, like you said.

How is any change in ownership a godsend? how many serious investors are there just hanging around to drop almost a billion dollars to buy the Bills and keep the team in Buffalo? Say what you want about Ralph, but he is the strongest thread that is keeping the team right where it as, and after him, theres no guarantee what will happen to the team

No I understand that, but I'm saying from his policy positions the number has never been more than 20-25% overall. So I don't think it'd be that drastic, for reasons beyond the bills, but at this point I wouldn't mind anything that might force a nice shakeup in mgmt
TheKing
A sale is likely to mean the end of the Buffalo Bills.

If there is a bidding war after death, odds are it gets pulled away from a bigger market / big money guy. Jimbo says he has the money waiting, it's probably from Hendricks racing owner. The local / state government could also get behind the push and offer credits or even waive taxes / fees from a new stadium site for building a dream stadium. A new stadium near the water / downtown Buffalo makes the most sense. Easier for northern fans and can literally transform the downtown into something of value. Louie Armstrong
A sale is likely to mean the end of the Buffalo Bills. Does the city retain the right to come in last place in the AFC East every year and not make the playoffs, or does that leave with the Bills too? But will Buffalo retain the right to mediocre QB play, 2.9 ypc average by its runningbacks, and the right to remain the greater new england areas biotch? Thats assuming that Jimbo is not just all talk at the moment. He is not wealthy enough to own a percentage stake in a billion dollar investment (he didn't make huge money over his career, and alot of his money has gone into Hunters hope) The local government could get into it too, but they have enough trouble trying to keep buffalo alive at the moment, and won't give those kind of tax breaks to big buisnesses to bring jobs to Buffalo, why will they do it to help out a billionaire get a new toy? I am a northern fan technically, and theres not much of an issue from getting from Downtown to RWS, it would save me maybe 20 minutes. The stadium at the moment is not even an issue, the first thing they need are the company's to want to pay the money to buy the existing luxury boxes in the stadium, at competitive rates to the rest of the NFL stadiums, then they can worry about providing a better stadium. More Boxes, Huge amount of new commercial space that can hold many visitors for the Falls / Casino's is attractive. Think the Casino's would like to have a new NFL stadium around the block? I bet they would chip in for all the hotel space forever, it's future money in the bank.

They need the companys to buy what they have now before they can even consider building more luxury boxes. The Casino is only about 30 minutes away now and they have no investment interest in the team, why would it matter if they built the stadium closer? They would only have an interest in the stadium if they could put machines in it and get revenue from it, and the league won't allow that to happen. There is a big difference between 30 minutes and 5 minutes for distance to a Casino and having people stay in town to watch the game. The Northern money comes in every weekend, fills the new hotels / bars / restaurants / Casino and feeds the area their money and the locals get the use of it. The money to buy the boxes is not going to come from local companies and the interest in the Bills will grow north of the border.
