Big Turk
They were doing a pretty good job of it the first few games of the season, especially on offense, but have been sorely lacking in this department lately. IMO, creating mismatches is one of the best ways to move the ball and score points, and the Bills definitely have the talent to do it....they just don't for whatever the reason. Examples would be to put Marshawn/Freddie Jackson and force LB's to cover them on pass routes, getting Evans open thru motion, rubs, picks, etc like all other teams do with their number one WR's, getting Parrish the ball in space against LB's or other teams 3rd CB's or safeties, etc, use Hardy's height to throw him jump balls near the endzone(like today), or teach him how to simply shield off much smaller CB's on quick slants, throw screens against overly aggressive pass rushers, etc.... It is really frustrating to see a team like the Pats create these mismatches and utilize them over and over again, and see the Bills have the same opportunities to get them, and refuse to do it.... Lets be honest----the Pats don't have a CB that could cover Lee Evans. They don't have one that can cover Parrish either. However, they are very good at making sure they have numerous players moving around in their zones to try and confuse opposition QB's---it obviously worked and it has worked for a long time...I mean when you can still win without your secondary getting torched with your 7th and 8th CB's, you obviously understand how to limit your liabilities on defense. There is no way a Bellichick or LeBeau coached defense would continuously get picked apart the same way for 4 of the last 5 games and do nothing to counter it like Fewell has done.... What makes it even more maddening is that Fewell's answer is to watch what other teams have done to the Bills, who are trying to do the same things as their opponents on offense are doing, except their opponents are succeeding while the Bills are mostly not. Creating mismatches---one of the tried and true ways to win games...Bills need to figure out how to do a much better job of it....
