VABills Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Well I went for the first time in 25 years or so. Does it seem strange that there were 500 food stands, and only about 40 rides? Also, we were watching channel 7 reporter (don't know who he is), jump from the free fall ride. We watched his whle report being filmed, but didn't watch the newscast that night. You know I have dome some things, but I hate heights and would not do the 120 foot free fall into the nets. Besides $35. You can do a tandom parachute jump for that much.
BillsFanNC Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Ahhh the fair. I used to "work" at the fair during college. Punch in at 7, work til 9, then play a round of golf, maybe take a dip at my friends pool, see the girlfriend, then back to "work" around 6 and finish at 10. Those were the days....
bills_fan Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 I miss the Hamburg fair. Went every year with my grandparents, who are no longer with us. Some years we would go 3 or 4 times. It was great to be a kid growing up in WNY.
Alaska Darin Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 None of you should complain. Your county fairs are better than our state fair. It's absolutely stupifying.

They have about 6 rides 3 food stands and most of them are closed because the operator is too drunk or stoned to run it.
Just Jack Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 The New York State Fair starts Thursday, here outside of Syracuse.

Wacka Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 I lived in CT for 2 years and my friends said I had to go to the Eastern States Exposition, the state fair for all 5 NE states. I expected this large sprawling fair, but it was smaller than the Erie County Fair!

BillsFanLevy Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 First off you WNY'ers want to go to a fair? Starting the Thursday go to the Great NY State Fair in Syracuse. It's about the only thing a person from Syracuse has to be proud of!

ExiledInIllinois Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 I was reading where the ECF was the nation's second largest? I always thought it was the biggest county fair? What's the biggest, does anybody know?
Wacka Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 I think the ECF and the Orange County fair (CA) keep switching places for the largest. I know that the ECF is much larger than any in the SF bay area.
