Brandon Marshall "near incident"

Recommended Posts

Ok.. so i watched this thing in slow motion and you can clearly see that he pulls like a wallet or something out of his crotch. I have no idea what that was, but it looked like a light brown wallet to me.

As previously stated, it was a glove. Half white, half black.

If the TV crews would stop showing the idiotic Chad Johnson-like celebrations, we wouldn't have unsportsmanlike penalties and we wouldn't have idiots like Marshall doing stuff like this.

Again, in this age of ESPN and "it's all about me" coverage, the camera is on the WR when he scores, so he gets all of the attention.

That would be awesome. Show us the cheerleaders instead!

As a huge Obama supporter, do you think Barack would ever care about that? Isn't the whole message to be not put yourself ahead of others? Marshall is an idiot and he is one of the softest receivers in the league. Did you see attempt to block??? That said, he is a beast when he gets the ball.

of course it is. that is the whole point of socialism and wealth redistribution, to try and put everybody on the same level(regardless of how hard they work to get to a higher level).

This thread is hilarious...if Marshall was to flash some sort of "support the troops" thing, nobody, NFL included, would have a problem, they/we would be praising him...but make a symbolic gesture toward racial harmony, and that is offensive? It really has nothing to do with him being selfish and wanting the spotlight, but everything, it seems, to do with the message. Talk about much adieu about nothing...I think a lot of NFL fans are not the most fair, or open minded people out there...this thread confirms that.

That's not the point. The point is he gets paid millions to play for his team. He was going to voluntarily take a 15 yard penalty on the ensuing kickoff, thereby hurting the team. That's the problem with it.

You assume he would get penalized.

At that point in the game there should be no thought in a player's mind to do something like that, but would it have drawn a penalty?

I'm assuming he would have put the glove on and raised his hand in salute. Are all 'props' automatically flagged?

rather than dwelling on marshall's attempted "celebration", i think stokley should be getting the attention for being heads up and keeping his team from getting a potential 15yrd penalty on a kick off when the game is up for grabs. if only every player had his head straight and played team first, and be aware of that concept, like stokely, i think the competition in the nfl would be even better

Props are always flagged. All the props that Chad Johnson has used have been flagged. TO's sharpie got flagged. Joe Horn's cell phone got flagged. It would've been a 15 yarder.

I guess he said in the post game that it was a glove that was half white, half black that he was going to pull out and attempt to raise his fist much like the Olympians in Seoule back in the 60's in honor of Obama's win.

Seriously.

What a douche. I remember the Bills Jerry Butler was one of the classiest big strike type receivers. After he scored he just gently placed the ball down on the turf. No spike. No dance. Acted like a pro not a 14 year old.

good points. but to challenge you a little, the QBS usually get twice or three times as much $ as the WRS. so, the agents and GMs know who gets the credit for a good pass. Also, a good WR can draw coverages. teh top guys u mention all make the other WRs seems much better. With out bruce, holts sucks. without a healthy TJ Houz - johson sucks. Driver is not a top 10 WR. Not is evans. REggie wayne is the exception. HE does his job and keeps quite. Santana moss is a little punk.

Add Brandon Marshall to the list of extremely talented, yet stupid/selfish wide receivers. Moss, Owens, Johnson, Marshall, Steve Smith. Of course, the media is fascinated with those guys, while equally talented receivers such as Torry Holt, Reggie Wayne, Lee Evans, Santana Moss, and Donald Driver get no love from said media. And why is that? Because they don't do idiotic endzone dances.

Here's my question. When a QB throws a perfect pass to a WR in the end zone, why is it the WR that gets to celebrate and act like he just made the most amazing play of all time, while the QB is relegated to a classy fist pump then a celebration with his teammates on the sidelines? In the words of Marv, "Act like you've been there before." If a WR catches a TD, politely tosses the ball to the referee and quietly returns to the sidelines, that shows a lot more about him as a player.

And Donte Whitner voluntarily took a penalty against the Raiders and is hailed as a hero.

Big Hit Whit!

Donte never tackled Brandon Jacobs last season on Jacobs big TD run. Donte was scared and took a poor angle at the big man. That showed me a lot about him. He is a good palyer -- but not worth the $10 mil he is paid. he is NOT NOT a probowler. Compare him to Pitt's, Troy Prom....

yes he is. i saw him live last weekend in DC vs. the redskins. he is just incredible. his closing speed and angles to the ball and play are unreal. he hits sooooo hard too. just a great player -- the best safety i have ever seen. i know that i bold -- but i stick by it.

better than ronnie lott? no way. until troy cuts a finger off to stay on the field, he cant even be close to the best.
