So, since you claim to be an independent thinker, and not a knee-jerk conservative, I will look forward to you making some zingers (on the main Wall and OTW) that are directed at a conservative, or a republican, in the future. * Note that the use of IQ here is simply for demonstration/rhetorical purposes. I am fairly certain that no pure economic system ever works effectively, on a large scale, or for long. The idea of the free market taking care of itself with no regulation is an absolutely stupid concept in the modern world. That everyone should be able see. What we have, in the USA, is a glorious witches brew of capitalistic and socialistic elements (like virtually all other modern Western countries). It's best to simply accept that, and decide to what extent each element does to the system as a whole. Labeling those who look to make some tweaks to save a system in trouble, as "socialists" is a good way to ask to be ignored. But, if you must label, I guess being called a socialist is better than being seen as a modern Marie Antoinette. I prefer to actually try to examine the various realities that people experience, and discuss what works and what doesn't, and talk about ways to change what's wrong in a realistic (but, fair) manner. There are good ideas in failed strategies. Things often succeed due for the wrong reason. There are many similarities in things that are, in the surface, quite different. And, there are numerous differences in things that seem extremely similar. Your approach seems to be mostly negative and cynical. I have yet to see you talk fairly about something with which you disagree, and that is a huge problem, when it comes to understanding things you don't like. It is a good thing to be skeptical, to keep your mind open and to be aware of the pitfalls that exist on all paths. All above said, Nader is still a hypocritical trust fund baby, treating his employees like shiip. He doesn't know squat about the environment, but had the audacity to accuse Gore of not being an environmentalist. Common cause produces some great statistics, but Nader is an ego maniacal has been, never was -- going the way of Jesse Jackson, so there! This is your best post yet. You're dead-bang right on Ralph Nader, whom I believe is a miserable human being. People who supported Gore in 2000 should rightfully blame Nader for stealing that election...not Bush.
