rockpile
They weren't given the benefit of correct information to make their decision yeah good point Kinda like when the ref spotted the ball two yards short of the first down.
NorthWesternBill
Sitting here this morning before class I find myself getting really angry about this play yesterday..... in a game where our team made soo many mistakes it hurts tenfold when some freakishly unfair play is called in our oppositions favor. I really hope that we can win next week to restore my spirits, weekdays are so much easier when you have Sunday to look forward to without the taint of this sort of thing. Well...why not then change the pro game to the college feel-good "fair" rules?...one foot in is a reception, catch a ball hit the turf and that's it...every play subject to review...no "unfair" ticking of the clock...those asinine OT "shoot-offs"... Rubes
The ball out-of-bounds rule has been around for a long time and it's not going away anytime soon. Some of you may remember the rule coming into play a while back in Buffalo when the Bills knocked some New England wide receiver out cold and made him fumble the ball right at the sidelines, but because he was lying unconscious with part of his body out of bounds and another part of him touching (but not possessing) the ball, the ball was considered out of bounds and the ball went to New England. Pretty much the same thing on the kickoff. If the ball is touched by a player who is out of bounds, the ball is considered out of bounds too, regardless of possession. Thus, kickoff is out of bounds.
