EZC-Boston Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 I finally found a place to listen to Rome on the web... http://www.xtrasports690.com/streaming.html We don't have him in Boston, I'm psyched...
billsfanone Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 I can't stand him. I catch him sometimes. I would never go out of my way to hear it. I did listen when Takeo was on last week...
EZC-Boston Posted August 24, 2004 Author Posted August 24, 2004 My only other options are annoying chowds...
eball Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 rome is becoming so passe...if you love the NFL you need to get sirius satellite radio. the NFL channel is nothing but analysis and player/coach interviews morning 'til night. it blows rome and his idiot callers out of the water. imagine -- a talk show where there can actually be a DIALOGUE between the caller and the host. unreal. i used to listen to rome all the time on my lunch hour. it just gets old.
billsfanone Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 My only other options are annoying chowds... 6028 Oh! In that case, Rome is ok.
Dante Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Thanks for the link. Ive looked around alot for streaming audio of his show but never been able to find it. I thought you had to pay at his site to get it.
BuffalOhio Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 I finally found a place to listen to Rome on the web... http://www.xtrasports690.com/streaming.html We don't have him in Boston, I'm psyched... 5993 Don't advertise that too much. If the Rome show finds out about it, it might get shut down. Keep it on the down low......
stevestojan Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Rome is by far the best sports commentator on TV or radio today - period. He is the ONLY one that will tell you what's on his mind, and not feed you the company (ESPN, CBS, etc) line... and often times i agree with him.. the best one i have heard in a while: caller: "hey rome, i have a few points. first, i wanted to say that the reasons americans do not like soccer is that it is a communist sport, run by communists and used as mind control. Second..." Rome: "Wait right there!. . . I always thought American's didn't like soccer because it sucks and its boring, but I'll go with communist mind control..."
billsfanone Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Best sports commentator? Wow, that's a stretch.
Alaska Darin Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Rome is an acquired taste - definately. That said, he is a very good interviewer. He lets his guests talk and asks excellent questions. Far beyond the standard bull stevestojan we're fed by the mainstream sports media.
R. Rich Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 I think Rome is okay, but he does go overboard at times. He has had some very funny moments (his take on Mills Lane was hysterical, as was his take on the situation regarding Iverson's mother), but there are times where he's just not funny and repeats himself over and over.
stevestojan Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Best sports commentator? Wow, that's a stretch. 6166 today? Yes.. he is. No one else on ESPN is close, they are all robots with terrible catch phrases that spit out what the ESPN teleprompter makes them. After that we are left with network guys. Some are good, some are not. But no one stands up and speaks his mind, while backed up with quality sports knowledge like Rome.
millbank Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 I also enjoy rome, its on in my office or barn most afternoons, at times silly humour at times very excellent interviews , he is not perfect but no one is.
Guest CW Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Actually, it's just a 5 minute loop, but the 'clones' are too dumb to notice.
Guest CW Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 I also enjoy rome, its on in my office or barn most afternoons, at times silly humour at times very excellent interviews , he is not perfect but no one is. 6203 A typical Rome interview: Rome asks question Interviewee answers Rome repeats interviewee's answer in the form of another question. Repeat
theesir Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Good interviews, everything else.... ANNOYING. I can not stand listening to this guy and his white guy, pseudo-ghetto "takes". He sounds ridiculous as do all those people calling in and trying to talk that "talk" with him.
Guest jim everett Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 i hate that guy :I starred in Brokeback Mountain:
