Guest three3 Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 The extension locks Rodgers up through the 2014 season, General Manager Ted Thompson said in the team’s statement. “As we talked about in the past, we try to be proactive in our discussions with our current players and we felt like this was an appropriate time to try to come to an agreement with Aaron,” Thompson said. “We feel like this is good for the organization and the players, and we will continue this approach as we move forward.”
VOR Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 This will probably be Thompson's last major move as the Packers' GM.
DC Tom Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I'd rather not see him locked up. I think the Bills are better off with him on the field, than incarcerated. Wait...what?
DrDawkinstein Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 why bother? agents have already proven that they wont honor contracts for more than 1 year if their player performs...
Dawgg Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 This will probably be Thompson's last major move as the Packers' GM. Are you implying he gets fired? He has done a pretty damn good job of rebuilding that team.
yall Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 How about we wait and see if he can throw 12 TD's in a season before we crown him king of OP. But seriously, lock him up next year. Give him the money meant for Peters.
Tim Anderson's Lunch Pail Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I've been thinking for a while now that he will get a new deal in the offseason.
Tcali Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 No lets go stew barber cheap with the guy.....a MILLLLLLLLLION dollars a year for 10 years.
GripnRip Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 I would trade him while his stock is high and look to the draft for a new QB. No need to extend him at all.
Tcali Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 I would trade him while his stock is high and look to the draft for a new QB. No need to extend him at all. I agree

Even if you aren't a fan of his, he's shown the ability to win games, and the draft is a crapshoot, as Trent himself proves (6th QB taken and the best so far, since Quinn and Kolb haven't played much).
High Mark Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 What? Dude. Clearly sarcastic. He is pointing the Bills tendency to finally get a good player and then let them walk.
marauderswr80 Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Lets see where this season takes us.......
Guest dog14787 Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Dude. Clearly sarcastic. He is pointing the Bills tendency to finally get a good player and then let them walk. Dude, clearly on this board, you never know, gripnrip might be losing his grip ieatcrayonz may be in control of him now.
VOR Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Dude. Clearly sarcastic. He is pointing the Bills tendency to finally get a good player and then let them walk. I'm pretty good at detecting sarcasm. The Bills have a tendency to trade older players for draft picks, while the younger guys walk in FA.
GripnRip Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 I think the Bills clearly made a mistake by not trading Trent for Roy Williams. We all know Lee Evans is a slot guy at best and if this team was serious about anything we'd have gotten Williams and drafted Tim Tebow. Classic Bills FO blunders. (OF COURSE WE NEED TO LOCK TRENT UP FOR THE LONGHAUL. Now preferably, before he becomes a superstar.)
