It's Time To Go After Wendy Buttons!

Recommended Posts

Wendy Button, Democrat and speech writer for the Obama campaign, and former speech writer for Edwards and Clinton, has left the campaign because she can no longer put forward her best efforts for a party that has completely let her down.

So she wrote this article.

So let's get going, Dems. Waste no time. Rip this whore to bits! There has to be some video of our her out there. Naked photos! Shopping sprees! Something! Anything! Kill the messenger!!!

"She's a whore! She's a B word! She only was responsible for writing little speeches made to the deaf community! She owes backtaxes! She has a DUI! She's a lesbian! She's not the kind of woman we really believe in, anyway!"

Wendy, Wendy, Wendy...you're toast, sister. But thanks for the effort. Enjoy your new career writing nutritional information for cereal boxes.:(

I feel bad for her after reading the article (I am a "Bleeding Heart Liberal" you know).

The thing is she came face-to-face, from the inside with something good, intelligent people on the outside have seen for years.

Politics is about ripping the other guy down to further your own ambitions.

Its pathetic, but both sides do it. The fact that she was SOOOO disgusted with what her side has done that she decided to change sides (well, she went Independent, but will vote McCain) only proves that she is not much of a critical thinker.

For each atrocity(my word) that the Obama campaign committed that was against their core "beliefs" the other side has performed character assasinations and misled with equal vigor.

Is it wrong for the Dems to do it because they're supposed to be above it, but not for the Reps because we expect that of them?

If she truly was to stand by her beliefs, she would not be voting for either candidate and would be holding them both to the same standard, one neither of them seems to have met.

They are attacking the reporter who dare asked Biden some tough questions because ... gasp!... her husband is a REPUBLICAN!

No criticism of George Stepinawfulstuff or Andrea Mitchell.

C'mon now, you've intentionally dumbed this one down to make your point. Her husband is not JUST a Republican- he's a Republican Media Consultant. Her husband's job is to inform the Republican party on how to best exploit your message and your audience.

The tones of her interviews are starkly different from candidate to candidate:

Here's her tossing McCain lobs so he can hit his talking points

vs.

Her "attack" on Biden

Louise Slaughter told me once that "you need a very thick skin to be in politics". Probably an understatement.

Being a communications or marketing professional, you have to have a certain about of chutzpah but politics can really, reallyl test you. I can understand why this woman may have been fed up with everything. I would expect that had she worked for the McCain campaign her feelings wouldn't have been much different. It's politics.

I think the problem is an unintellectual electorate that thinks because it is on a News channel or a news program it must be unbiased.

There is a whole majority of Americans who have NO critical thinking skills and merely think what they are told.

Its truly embarassing to try and hold a political conversation with some people (and quite frustrating) as ALL they can add to the conversation is "buzz words" and "talking points" that their "news" channel of choice has chosen to grace us with.

Are you saying her tone was or wasn't different?

I think her "tone" was similar, but the questions were so much more "media generated" and one sided.

Her first question to McCain was "Acorn tried to register Mickey Mouse to vote, Obama worked for Acorn, what do you think of Obama's relationship with Acorn?" She gave him the first question as a chance to tear apart his opponent, not talk about himself.

Do you think even 5% of the population even understands what Marxism is? Do you think the interviewer did? It's a buzz word with tremendously negative connotations. Most peoples belief Obama's a Marxist had that idea given to them by pundits. When pressed, I many could actually define what it means.

My point is, an informed electorate needs to get beyond what is being propagandized to them by both sides and use some critical thought to decide what is real.

Repeating what you were told as fact is not critical thinking.

I would argue that the structure of her questions is quite loaded:

"Aren't you embarrassed..." (on Acorn)

"Isn't Senator Obama's comment a crushing political blunder?" (on wealth distribution)

"From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs." This is the Marx quote she uses then follows up with "How is he not being a Marxist?" In other words, her quote proves it, it's on you to dissprove it.

It's a pretty aphoristic quote, and to your point, I would argue that it was her intention (based on the structure of the quotes above) to manipulate her viewership's understanding of Marxism, et al.

Finally she ends with, "How do you respond to people's fears that Barrack Obama wants to turn this country into a Socialist country like Sweden?"

Again, in a very subtle way she's suggesting this to be true, then putting the honus on Biden to dispprove her. Like I mentioned in my original post, her husband's not just a Republican, he's a MEDIA CONSULTANT, it's his job to know how to invade the public's conscious, and IMO her questions are structured specifically to do so.
