erynthered Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Celebrate taking back our country...check From the democratically controlled Congress and Senate you've had for two years with a 9% approvial rating? Right. Check.
DC Tom Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 after the polls close: Celebrate taking back our country...check Taking it back FROM WHO???? Geez, people are nuts.
In-A-Gadda-Levitre Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Taking it back FROM WHO???? Geez, people are nuts. the worst president and administration in modern history
Cornerville Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Obama is the superior candidate for president.
In-A-Gadda-Levitre Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 From the democratically controlled Congress and Senate you've had for two years with a 9% approvial rating? Right. Check. let's check the approvial rating late in 2011...
erynthered Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 let's check the approvial rating late in 2011... Which branch of Government, or will you be selective again?
In-A-Gadda-Levitre Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Which branch of Government, or will you be selective again? how am I being selective? You chose to contest my answer by bringing up the congress' approval rating... Remember the SCHIP vote? 9 million children that were not covered by either public or private health care. Bush chose to fight it after he suddenly found his veto voice and although the bill had bipartisan support, it wasn't enough to override the President's veto. That was in the day where there was plenty of GOP congressmen and women that simply lined up to support their leader, regardless of the issue. Is that the reason for a historically low approval rating of congress? No, but it demonstrates how a simple majority does not translate to an effective legislative branch as viewed by the public. Let's see what happens after January 20th. But to answer your question, you probably need to judge both the president/administration and the congress.
IDBillzFan Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 the worst president and administration in modern history I had no idea that Jimmy Carter's presidency is not considered a part of modern history. Or maybe "modern history" is defined as "anytime in the past eight years." Or maybe you just think Jimmy Carter was a great president.
erynthered Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 how am I being selective? You chose to contest my answer by bringing up the congress' approval rating... No. I brought up the Congress and the Senate after you said "Celebrate taking back our country...check" Then, You brought up the POTUS and the administration.
D_House Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 So you fear an economic recovery? What are you, a repo man? (watch the linked vid, it's hilarious)
In-A-Gadda-Levitre Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I had no idea that Jimmy Carter's presidency is not considered a part of modern history. Or maybe "modern history" is defined as "anytime in the past eight years." Or maybe you just think Jimmy Carter was a great president. I don't think Jimmy Carter was a great president, but his approval rating was no lower than 28%, whereas Mr. George W. Bush is hovering in the low 20s. I also think that after he leaves office, there will be significant (as yet unknown to the public) evidence and dirty laundry that will show just how damaging his administration was.
In-A-Gadda-Levitre Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 No. I brought up the Congress and the Senate after you said "Celebrate taking back our country...check" Then, You brought up the POTUS and the administration. lol, I was asked by DC Tom who I/we were celebrating taking it back from. We aren't taking our country back from the congress, although the dems are about to capture an obscene amount of seats in both houses.
/dev/null Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I don't think Jimmy Carter was a great president, but his approval rating was no lower than 28%, whereas Mr. George W. Bush is hovering in the low 20s. So was Harry Truman's
In-A-Gadda-Levitre Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 So was Harry Truman's ok, let's split hairs. Bush has the record for the lowest approval rating ever recorded by a sitting president, 19% (2/16-19/2008 - during the Iraqi insurgency, and 09/16-19/2008 - after the economy tanked)
Chef Jim Posted October 29, 2008 Author Posted October 29, 2008 I don't think Jimmy Carter was a great president, but his approval rating was no lower than 28%, whereas Mr. George W. So you base the effectiveness of an administration based on approval ratings? Who'd you vote for class president last year? Prom queen? American Idol?
In-A-Gadda-Levitre Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 So you base the effectiveness of an administration based on approval ratings? Who'd you vote for class president last year? Prom queen? American Idol? no, but if someone is saying "no, this president is worse than that one," show me a way to make a simple comparison from 1 to the other
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Today on Limbaughs show he is now tying Obama to FDR and was playing old FDR fireside chats. Now I am not old enough to remember anything much before DDE but I guess he is now looking to attack the extreme socialism of FDR
