Hazed and Amuzed
I don't watch hockey really, I'll watch Buffalo when they're on but that's rare. My question is this: Why do they use real glass around the rink? Is it easier to see through then plexi or is there another reason? It just seems that glass/tempered or not would create more problems then it solves.
UnionAMG
I'm pretty sure they don't use actual glass... and it is plexiglass? When it does shatter it breaks into a ton of smaller pieces without sharp edges. If it was real glass it would be shards of death raining down upon players and fans. PastaJoe
It's plexiglass. And occasionally it will shatter from impact from the puck or players. Just last night it shattered in Boston, and a couple people got cut by the small shards.
