Steely Dan Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I didn't even watch the video before voting psychotic!
buckeyemike Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 He's both. He is a wacky guy, but I think that motorcycle accident two decades ago may have messed up his mind.
extrahammer Posted October 21, 2008 Author Posted October 21, 2008 He's both. He is a wacky guy, but I think that motorcycle accident two decades ago may have messed up his mind. I was gonna blame it on the drugs... but I think you're onto something.

KD in CA Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I voted for both because I could. Plus, it's accurate.
The Dean Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I also voted for both. Part of him is playing off the image, but I'm pretty sure part of it is real. He was great in Carny. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080500/
Dante Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 I also voted for both. Can anyone remember that reality show he had briefly a few years ago? Where he went around with this kinda geeky guy getting into trouble. I can't remember the name but I thought it was pretty good. Edit: Just searched and found it http://www.buseyworld.com/imwithbusey.htm
buckeyemike Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I also voted for both. Part of him is playing off the image, but I'm pretty sure part of it is real. He was great in Carny. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080500/ One of my favorite films is The Buddy Holly Story. I'll be honest, the film has a lot of flaws (one of the most egregious of which is seeing mountains in the background of a scene that is supposed to take place in flat-as-a-pancake Lubbock, Texas). However, Busey's performance makes the film not only watchable, but enjoyable; and the music certainly doesn't hurt, either. Gary Busey's claim to fame prior to playing Buddy Holly was being the last character killed on Gunsmoke. Busey did his own singing and guitar work in the film depicting the last few years of Holly's life. Busey literally carries that film, moreso than I've ever seen any other actor carry a movie. He almost becomes Buddy Holly right before your eyes. It's the role he was born to play, and his Best Actor Oscar nomination was well deserved (he lost the award to Jon Voight). He's certainly had his moments since (he was terrific in both the first Lethal Weapon and Under Siege), but he seems to be more noted now for his crazy behavior, and as I said, I think a lot of his problems stem from that near-fatal motorcycle accident.
WellDressed Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I miss that spanish kids show that featured Busey. He's an out and about jackstraw. I'm with Busey!! Lets play guess that smell and I'll plant my weasel.
DrFishfinder Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 He's both. He is a wacky guy, but I think that motorcycle accident two decades ago may have messed up his mind. "May" have? Yeesh. He's either toons or putting on the best act ever. Have you seen him on Smoking Gun?
inkman Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 No one mentions Celebrity Rehab 2? FWIW, he is easily trumped by Steven Adler (former G-n-R drummer) on the show. Dude needs some serious help.
Hazed and Amuzed Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 There are a few of these. Great stuff... Busey on Dyslexia
