Full Text Of Joe Biden 10/19/08 Comments Re: Barack Obama

Recommended Posts

"Mark my words, it will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate," Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities. "And he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you - not financially to help him - we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."

"I've forgotten more about foreign policy than most of my colleagues know, so I'm not being falsely humble with you. I think I can be value added, but this guy has it," the Senate Foreign Relations chairman said of Obama. "This guy has it. But he's gonna need your help. Because I promise you, you all are gonna be sitting here a year from now going, 'Oh my God, why are they there in the polls? Why is the polling so down? Why is this thing so tough?' We're gonna have to make some incredibly tough decisions in the first two years. So I'm asking you now, I'm asking you now, be prepared to stick with us. Remember the faith you had at this point because you're going to have to reinforce us."

"There are gonna be a lot of you who want to go, 'Whoa, wait a minute, yo, whoa, whoa, I don't know about that decision'," Biden continued. "Because if you think the decision is sound when they're made, which I believe you will when they're made, they're not likely to be as popular as they are sound. Because if they're popular, they're probably not sound."

After speaking for just over a quarter of an hour, Biden noticed the media presence in the back of the small ballroom.

"I probably shouldn't have said all this because it dawned on me that the press is here," he joked.

My comments on Biden are firmly embedded in my sig

Reading your sig...I don't get how anyone would consider Palin "dumb". Did you see how well-prepped she was for the debate? Nobody who gets that well prepped in that short a time is truly dumb.

So...dumb? No. A complete clown, on the other hand? You betcha!

Oh, you mean she was prepared to talk about two things instead of the 22 things brought up? That's well prepared? When asked about bankruptcy she says I don't want to talk about bankruptcy (because I can't talk about bankruptcy) so I'll talk about energy again? That showed a little bit of political smarts, I suppose, even though it's insane that someone should be allowed to get away with that. But it showed how unprepared she was, not how well prepared she was.

It was no gaffe. It's a pattern that Joe Biden displays over and over.

If McCain was smart he would run ads featuring all the things that Biden has said about Obama NOT being ready to be President.

Okay, fine...did this "pattern that Joe Biden displays over and over" require a second thread? :wallbash:

It is a pattern???? Plaid maybe? :wallbash:

Fine.

Did this bull sh-- really require a second thread? Did this Bidenism really require a second thread? Did this eloquency really require a second thread? Did this burrito really require a second thread? I don't care how you qualify it...pick the !@#$ing noun of your choice. Did it require a second !@#$ing thread?

The fact that the Obama campaign honestly feels this way is both good and bad. It is of course good because it is likely true and needs to be prepared for. Obviously, it is bad because, as Biden is saying, the United States is looking vulnerable. No matter how well an Obama administration responds, Americans are going to get hurt and suffer from this appearance of weakness.

Both campaings get secutiry briefings . As wacked out as Bidens is he probably has something specific in mind.

The US is looking vulnerable because we currently are running two wars and one of them isnt making much progress, along with the financial crisis we do look very vulnerable. No matter who is elected they will be tested don't drink the koolaid that mcCain scares them off and Obama makes them cheer. we are strapped and our ability to respond to any sort of attack may require very difficult decisions.
