Denney pass rush question...

If someone's reviewing this game and they can be bothered, can they see how often Denney uses the spin to the outside or the basic swim move... to the outside.

From what i can see on NFL.com he doesn't have the wheels for either of these moves to the outside. Also interested if he rushes from the 5 technique mostly or the 7 as the RDE? ...from a couple of plays I saw, this was really notable. Why not sub Ellis who's quicker (?) for this technique.

Just a guess on my part, but I'm starting to think Ellis has a very unprofesional attitude problem or something. I figured he would have gotten more snaps at least in passing situations this game. I know people will bring up the "better depth" than in years past argument but I'm starting to wonder about Mr. Ellis. Should have played more with Schobel being out and all.

Ellis must suck real bad to not get some more action in that game. Why can't this team find Defensive ends?

...and then asking them to take the longest route to the QB or a technique that's probably easiest for an O-lineman to defend...

Well they did sub in Copelan Bryan who applied the pass rush from RDE on the Mitchell INT. (He also recovered the fumble caused by Mitchell later.) I think Bryan is just ahead of Ellis on the depth chart, which is fine for now. He's a rookie. . . give him a chance.

I haven't watched half of the game even once yet. I'm hoping the "Short Cuts" replay has more game footage, but I'm not optimistic. I'll post anything I notice about Denney's moves and would appreciate reading what anyone else sees.

Cheers. The little I saw stood out. Running that spin into the tackle and then trying to get to the outside shoulder and get around the pocket just doesn't suit someone who's 6'7" and without wheels from the 5 technique. Wondering if technique of the D-line's factoring into the lack of production from the group?

I'm intrigued to see what Ellis can do as well but clearly the coaches know something about the kid that we don't so I'll trust their better judgment. But giving him maybe 5 reps during a game couldnt hurt the team THAT much right? Maybe we'll see him in a blowout situation.

Like to see someone coming off the edge and breaking down the pocket. Wheels and strength required. Does Ellis have any of these. Flowers just couldn't provide the strength when he went up from the 250's and although he had the 4.7something it didn't happen. Corey Moore had the wheels, but not much else, a "street racer". Kelsay and Denney just don't bring that off the edge that upsets the o-lineman's balance and lets them work leverages and moves. At least Denney can reach to block a passing lane. Schobel has the wheels at times and the work ethic, but his lean on the outside isn't strong enough and he needs to work those counters more. See some technique work as well from Ellis...coaching?

I'll add since Ellis hasn't been getting game action he should be able to get some pretty decent weight lifting sessions in. When you're playing in the games all you're really doing is working out the soreness. When Marcellus Wiley used to come into World Gym in Hamburg (when it was on Southwestern) he told me during his offseason workouts he got his bench up to a 500 lb. max but just coming into the gym during the season he was just doing a few sets of 275 for 6 reps because his body was so sore and beat up. Hopefully Ellis is using the non playing time to his advantage while he can.....

I am still suprised he didnt see the field Sunday. Kelsay and Denny started, Copelan Bryan spelled, but did we only use three ends? Seems that we should be rotating more than just three. Ellis was a pass rush specialist in college, and we never seem him in pass rush situations... Im beginning to worry
