JP-era Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 I used to be FormerlyRJ, and 4everBills (Moderator couldnt manage to fix my account). Despite what Todd says, I dont think anyone thinks putting JP in fixes all our problems. The problems are many heres the fix list: JP starts over Drew- JP can run and can avoid sacks that Drew would take. As strong an arm and no one can claim we need Drews decision making anymore. Drew cut at the end of the year, frees up 5 mil or so. JP gets the rep and instantly adds excitement back in the QB position McGahee over TH permanently- Travis's days are numbered. He has managed to look worse this year and McGahee keeps looking better! Travis traded for a 1st. Dont know if we get a 1st but heres to hoping. O-line overhaul- Skipped out on Woody for Villarial. I like Chris but he is a second tier FA for a reason. Teague is overpaid. Big Mike stays because short of Jennings, hes the best T on this squad. Either we resign Jennings and take our chances or somehow trade for a annual franchised stud LT. Jones, Pace, Ogden I dont care get one of them. Use the money you saved on cutting Drew to rebuild you o-line. Problem is they are likely to be franchised again, and although I think its worth fessin 2-1sts we dont have them. No point in drafting one at the top of the 2nd or mid round 1st (Henry). Could easily be a bust. We might be best off sticking with Jennings. Need a stud C, and 1 other stud G. Get it done. TE- Campbell is a backup for any other squad. Great spot to draft one with the 33rd pick. Or maybe 3rd round. WR- Moulds is now a 2nd at best. Last week I said we have plenty of talent. Now Im not so sure. Moulds gets YAC and can SOMETIMES make the grab. Evans is the fastest WR, and has the best hands as well. Can someone get him the damn ball? Still think we need to sign another vet with some talent. Trade for a Patrick Johnson, Az Hakim, Jurevicious, McCardell, Jimmy Smith type and open the passing game up with some true talent. Im not sure Josh Reed doesnt need to be cut. Defense- Move Vincent to FS NOW and start McGee. McGee is starting to impress me with his coverage skills. His speed is there, if he keeps working on his run stuffing he can be a great corner. CB is another spot to add from next years draft. Thats it, dont fix it if it aint broke. Dont spend tons of cash on D when your O cant put any damn points on the board. Coaching- I believe firmly that it will take a coach the likes of Parcells to kick this team into gear and get them over their losing ways. But, Mularkey has at least shown some life. I give him credit for playing McGahee over Henry today, benching Adams when Edwards played better, and opening up the offense. Too bad Drew screwed it all up so badly. Hopefully our new starter JP will do better! Finally, I think we are all suffering from the Bills fan syndrome where we have seen crap for so long that it almost looks good. I think we all should watch just 1 game of another team with a winning record. I think we ALL would instantly have perspective on how we truly are short on playmakers who make plays. I am so sick and tired of watching the "todays leaders" tracker showing the same names every week and none of them are Bills! Time to demand better! Time to unite and demand big name players be put on this squad or started from the bench. Let the Losman, Evans, McGahee trifecta BEGIN!!!!!!!
Mike in Syracuse Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 If we draft at TE with our first pick in next years draft my time as a Bills fan might officially come to an end.
JP-era Posted October 24, 2004 Author Posted October 24, 2004 OK, you peaked my interest, is there a position you are demanding with our 1st? If you say o-line, I would agree in most cases except for this one. I want to win NOW not wait for 3 years while our line continues to develop or jell. If you read my post I think you would see that I call for cutting Drew and using the money and yes, maybe picks, to trade/sign for true o-line talent from FA, not from the draft!
Dr. K Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 Your comments on Moulds and the receivers are ludicrous. Az Hakim? Jurevicious? Evans is already starting. If they can't get him the ball now, how is getting rid of Moulds going to make it any easier? The team is playing crappy. But to listen to this board make me realize why fans should seldom be take seriously. We run on emotions, not logic.
Campy Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 If we draft at TE with our first pick in next years draft my time as a Bills fan might officially come to an end. 83355 It's not the name (I promise!), but I've liked Campbell's production. He seems to make plays when called upon, and it's tough to ask more than that from a player. If there's a deficiency at TE, it might be in having a blocking TE, but I think this team has more pressing needs than the TE position.
MDH Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 Moulds second string is laughable. The guy makes clutch cathes on 3rd down, has 3 of our 5 TDs this season and is on pace for a 1300 yard 100 catch season...yeah, let's bench him! Change for change sake is not going to get it done. The coaches need to target those positions that are not producing and do something about them. Moulds is not such a player, period.
JP-era Posted October 24, 2004 Author Posted October 24, 2004 I never said for a minute to get rid of Moulds. Im just sick of seeing him as our "goto" guy and then fumble it, drop it, or not be open. Hes our 2nd best WR right now. Evans has better potential. Yeah I want to keep him, but I also want to add some other REAL talent at WR
JimBob2232 Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 early in the 2nd round, it depends on who is left on the board. CB is a possibility. Safety is a possibility. DE and TE are possibilities. (Never shoulud have let riemersma go). AND if that kicker (cant remember his name) is around, possibly Kicker (as much as i would hate to). Also if a good LB is around, its a possibility if our need positions are gone. LB depth would be good, and a possible posey replacement. And of course OL. So to make a long story short(er), we take the best player available. Duh. Too bad we dont have a first because it would make watching these games at least a little easier to swallow.

Evans is nowhere close to being the WR that Moulds is right now. Could he be? Sure, but it's most likely a few seasons away.
JP-era Posted October 24, 2004 Author Posted October 24, 2004 Mike Nugent. Yes he should be there at 33rd. But im not sure hes the pick that helps us the most at that spot.

I dont, Moulds has dropped too many, not got open too much for me to call him our best player. Spikes is our best player. Moulds is a great WR who is now past his prime ala TO. I want him but as a possession receiver. I still think we need a homerum hitter, Evans seems to fit the Bill but your right lets see it each week. Get him the damn ball!
silvermike Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 Yeah, I'm glad we don't have a past-his-prime receiver on this team like TO. He sucks. He averages almost 100 yards per game, with six touchdowns. I don't think our offense has any more than that right now.

Ray Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 Why on Earth would you bench your best player in Moulds? That is just plain dumb dumb dumb! Yes JP and McGahee should play but why bench Moulds when he is on pace for another Pro Bowl year?????
Ray Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 Use your head and do not act so impulsively! You actually have to think!
JP-era Posted October 24, 2004 Author Posted October 24, 2004 I NEVER SAID TO BENCH MOULDS!!!!! I NEVER SAID GET RID OF HIM!!! What I said was, lets stop considering him our number 1 passing option. I think he is a possession receiver he is no longer our deep threat home run hitter. Yet Drew looks to him first. Lets stop looking to him first and spread the ball around more. With Evans being our deep threat and having such great hands, I say start throwing the ball more to Evans which means look to Moulds less.

What the hell has Az Hakim done since he left St. Louis? He isn't half the receiver Moulds is. You get him, and where is Moulds going to play? Third receiver, in the slot? Evans was the targeted receiver on the Bledsoe interception in the end zone. I don't blame Evans for that, but he caught ZERO passes today. Maybe it's because Bledsoe never looked for him, but I doubt it. Moulds caught six today, including one circus catch that should have been an interception. Yes, he has dropped passes, but the problems this offense is having aren't because of Moulds. There are a dozen other more serious problems on this team than Moulds. Moulds is not a problem, he is an asset, one of the few on this team.
MDH Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 Moulds caught six today, including one circus catch that should have been an interception. Yes, he has dropped passes, 83605 Correction: He dropped a pass (singular). You can't fault a guy for not making 2 circus catches in the endzone, one of which was about as poorly thrown as a QB can make.

You know from my post I think this blaming Moulds is foolish. Moulds is the guy who prevented the linebacker from going 100 yeards for the TD in the 4th quarter, after McGahee had given up chasing him. He's not without flaws, but he's by far the best receiver on this team and still a fine, sometimes elite, receiver in the league.

I agree with everything you said. Moulds is our #2 at least for sure. I want a true #1 deep threat home run hitter, Moulds isnt the deap threat he once was. I dont mind looking to him alot, but lets start looking at Evans alot more, yes as the first choice. Call it 1 and 1a if you like. Right now its all Moulds with 1 true shot at Evans per game and a few short passes to whoever every now and again. Lets split the receptions with someone like Evans who adds a new dimension to this squad. The more weapons we have and the more we use them, the more open our offense will be. Everything will improve, time in the pocket, our ground game, We have to say Moulds is one of our top options not THE top option.
