Gordio
http://blogs.nfl.com/2008/10/16/gonzalez-h...mself-to-blame/ Thanks for the read. This is the diasadvantages a team like Buffalo has competing against teams like NYs/Dallas/Philly/NE/Wash. I think after reading Shefter & the piece from Lombardi it is pretty safe to say that Gonzales was never willing to come to Buffalo. Oh yeah, one more thing, F*ck you Gonzo. The Big Cat
http://blogs.nfl.com/2008/10/16/gonzalez-h...mself-to-blame/ This belies the assertion here that it was Petersen that clamped on the deal.
CJPearl2
Great article. Schefter is the best is the business, and not just because he wrote this article. He consistently breaks all the big stories and has credible contacts with most NFL teams. Unlike Mort and the ESPN douchebags.
Guest three3
amazing how much praise you all gave gonzo and now that it turns out he wants nothing to do with buffalo i.e. the fans on this board

Wait till we play them. I'm sure Donte will have a message for Gonzo when he goes over the middle. PTR
Bleed Bills Blue
"Had perennial Pro Bowl tight end Tony Gonzalez embraced the chance to play in Buffalo rather than reject it, he would have found out what the late, great Tim Russert knew. Buffalo is a great football town.... But Gonzalez has no one but himself to blame. He crossed the Bills off his wish list. He closed his mind to a small town with a big heart." Hey, I like the sound of that!

VOR
amazing how much praise you all gave gonzo and now that it turns out he wants nothing to do with buffalo i.e. the fans on this board What's your problem? I think it's perfectly acceptable to now hate the guys guts because he refused to play for the Bills, and to be happy that he'll rot in KC for the rest of the season, wondering what could have been. kota
Gonzo is dumb. This offense suits him. Short quick passes and Trent likes going to the Tight End.
Chandler#81
amazing how much praise you all gave gonzo and now that it turns out he wants nothing to do with buffalo i.e. the fans on this board What the hell has this got to do with anything?! Sure we threw flowers at him -he's a sure fire HOF with no records left to break for his position and we provided the best offer in an attempt to shore up a glaring weakness. That he didn't do his homework on our team, cost him the chance to play for a contender. Please explain.

Guest three3
i had a feeling he was too metro / glamourish for buffalo. he wants the attention. tv time, radio time, jersey sales. buffalo is not the place for your star to shine the brightest. green bay gets way more media even though that is also a small market. tony g is an aging TE with declining production and is overpaid. i didnt want him, i wanted TJ
SKOOBY
Personally, if TG decided that any contending team is not for him, he really narrowed his window of escape. The Bills are one of the top teams in the AFC right now and have the potential to go real far based on how Trent plays. If Trent plays awesome and the line uses it's size to block on the field and not at Mighty taco, we'll do great.
stevewin
He limited his opportunities and denied the Chiefs the chance to take the third-round pick, and other compensation, the Bills were offering Interesting - first I've heard that - wonder what else was on the table
ieatcrayonz
Interesting - first I've heard that - wonder what else was on the table John McCargo was on the table but the table broke. It was one of Peterson's favorite tables so the deal was off.
theesir
Interesting - first I've heard that - wonder what else was on the table Oh My God!! Think about how much it would have sucked if we got TG for a 3rd and John McCargo and then after the parade welcoming Gonzalez to town and all the new jersey buying, the trade got canceled because McCargo failed his physical!!! ndirish1978
Great article. Schefter is the best is the business, and not just because he wrote this article. He consistently breaks all the big stories and has credible contacts with most NFL teams. Unlike Mort and the ESPN douchebags. Ditto here. Schefter is the cream of the crop with NFL news. He breaks trades before anyone else and he seems to just "get it". I like the line "He [Gonzo] closed his mind to a small town with a big heart." That's just good writing. lets_go_bills
Great article. Coming from Schefter, it is usually true. So then it looks like there was a deal in place and Tony crapped all over it. We need to thrash the Chiefs when we go to Arrowhead in a couple weeks.
