Holcomb had some success as a starter in the same vein as Billy Joe Bob Playbook for two games.

Well, if you only consider Holcomb's entire career as his brief fling in Buffalo. Holcomb had very good success in Cleveland with a very ragtag collection of talent. Enough success that he was considered a viable veteran backup plan by the Bills as insurance for Losman.

 

Bottom line: Holcomb's career was mostly as a 2nd string QB that could come in and play in games. Collins spent virtually his entire career as a headset wearing exemption to the inactive list. I even recall one year when the Chiefs were beset by injury at the QB position and Vermeil said something like, "Well, maybe Todd Collins can step it up," in some interview and then the Chiefs went out and found another QB to keep Collins glued to the bench. Before we get all worked up about last year, know that Collins, who should be well suited to a west coast offense -- a shallow, precise passing game that takes some mental acumen -- never materialized as a legit threat to take Campbell's job. A good thing for the Redskins, as Campbell has been care-taking the offense rather well so far.

 

We'll just have to agree to disagree on Todd Collins as potential does not equate to value.

We will see how much play TG gets in offseason when a team can bring him in for entire offseason period rather than bringing him in and hoping he and QB can get in sync soon.

 

Both Jerry Sullivan and Bob DiCasare seem more like opposing press every day, They and WGR are like crabs in a bucket climbing over each other in attempt to bad mouth the Bills. If I was Bills front office I'd only allow them access when required by NFL.

I would have traded a 2 and 5 for Tony G. Let's try and win THIS YEAR. We've got a pretty good offense with a hole at TE. Tony G fills it in spades. Imagine the Bills offense with a real pass catching threat at TE like Tony G. We could have added without having to lose anything this year like Fred Jackson or something. Would have been awesome. Oh well. Maybe next time.

A 3rd was more then anyone else was offering and I commend the front office for trying to make this happen.

 

Interesting is how it is Buffalo's fault they didnt get Tony G.....and not the GM of the Chiefs who could have gotten a decent pick in a rebiulding team

That's a tough feat to accomplish, since Collins was No. 2 to Green during Vermeil's years, and I don't recall another QB in KC ahead of Collins in those years. You may be thinking of Collins' years in Wsahington, where they shuttled Brunell & Ramsey in and out without giving any consideration to Collins. But in the few times that Collins needed to step in, he played well.

Either way, TG is not going to help the chiefs at all. The Chiefs are beyond help and need a total revamping, which raises the chances of the Bills capturing a W from them soon enough.

Thanks for the correction. Todd was the #2 QB behind Green under Vermeil and did see a few snaps in 12 games over that 5 year span. It was the 3 years prior to that where he did nothing but carry the clipboard.

 

I still think he sucks.

Two NFL sources say the Bills offered a third-round draft pick for Gonzalez. Sources also say that Peterson refused to budge off his asking price, reported to be a No. 2 and a No. 5. If he was going to part with the face of the franchise it would be for what he considered commensurate return.

 

The Bills declined to meet the price. It took them two No. 1s, a No. 2, a No. 3 and a No. 5 to get the quarterback they were after. But they wouldn’t spend a No. 2 and a No. 5 on a Hall of Fame tight end capable of maximizing that quarterback’s talents while simultaneously diverting attention from the wideout they just signed to a lucrative extension. Look at it this way: Gonzalez could have been a Bill for the premium they paid to acquire Losman.

Oh, that is good news. I'm glad they gave a fair offer, and did not overpay for Gonzo. to the Bills.
