ExiledInIllinois Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 I wanna know what the blue collar Republicans think... I know, he is just a celeb... Who really cares... But, going back for years now Bruce has always paid homage to people like Woody Guthrie... Yet, he has alwys stayed on the fence politically (most likely leaning Dem silently). I am glad he is off the fence. As on Guthrie's guitar: "This machine kills fascists" Does his music suddenly suck for some people?... Which I fully expect to hear.

A man's politics has nothing to do with the quality of his music. Springsteen's music always sucked in my mind.

With your Hendrix thread in mind, I take you for being more "plugged in" than acoustic. It isn't about quality of music rather than quality of their words... There very much so is an important place for the modern day political troubadour.

Springsteen backed Obumble back in April, and he backed Kerry in 2004 even wrote a song for him. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/...ss-backs-obama/
molson_golden2002 Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 A man's politics has nothing to do with the quality of his music. Springsteen's music always sucked in my mind. Really? I think he is so great. Baby we were born to runnnnnnn Oh ya!
/dev/null Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Wrong. Springsteen backed Obumble back in April, and he backed Kerry in 2004 even wrote a song for him. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/...ss-backs-obama/ facts never bothered MG before, why should they start now
molson_golden2002 Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 facts never bothered MG before, why should they start now Huh?
Gavin in Va Beach Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 An overrated musician endorses an overrated politician?
KD in CA Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Is this a joke? Springsteen has been a huge left winger for as long as I can remember.

Which I fully expect to hear. ....and Springsteen's political affiliation is about as newsworthy as which toothpaste he uses. The importance given to which party/candidate a particular show biz personality endorses is nauseating.
Joe Miner Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Is this a joke? Springsteen has been a huge left winger for as long as I can remember. No kidding Since when has Bruce been on the fence concerning politics? You really gotta get out from under that rock once in a while EII. For the record, I've never liked Springfield's music either. IMO, his music is incredibly overrated.
Lurker Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Springsteen's music always sucked in my mind. That sounds a bit oxymoronic to me....
Lurker Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 The importance given to which party/candidate a particular show biz personality radio talk show host, member of the clergy, think tank 'scholar' etc. endorses is nauseating. Fixed.
Bishop Hedd Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 facts never bothered MG before, why should they start now Except it was Exiled who started the thread. Nevermind. Sometimes I feel like I'm reading Kelly Fair and Balanced.
SD Jarhead Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Is this a joke? Springsteen has been a huge left winger for as long as I can remember. It's a typical Exiled in Idiotville thread along the lines of "The sky is dark at Night! React!" Here's the thing Leftys- Why do you feel compelled to pull every inane bit of Lefty news down and turn it into a thread? Been reading the Daily Ko's textbook? I'm sure the wingnuts can do the same thing. Let's use discretion and common sense when starting threads. Please...

In-A-Gadda-Levitre Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 here's Bruce speaking in Philly and singing a really good acoustic version of 'The Rising'
