bigskyfan
The play of the offensive line yesterday continues to be sub par at best,,,,,Mike Gandy looked better than Jason Peters! Butler and Fowler did not open a hole all day for the run game, with the exception of pulling on the Evans run. The whole line failed to keep a mediocre Arizona defense from collapsing the pocket all day,,,,, and for those of you wanting to blame JP for holding the ball too long, it was'nt JP who got clobbered when an Arizona defender got a free pass directly to the qb on the third pass of the game. IMO this team really misses McNally,,,,this group has been together for a year and should be playing much better,,,instead the oline has regressed since last year.........Lynch and Jackson should sue for non support. For some reason, everyone is pinning the blame on the qb and defense and granted they got it coming,,,,but our lack of running game and non existent pass protection were also key in this loss. Our O-line has not been anything better than a C in any one game really and a D or F in most. I mean Lynch is avg about 3.5 yards a carry and he is getting that all on his own on busted plays by breaking tackles and running hard. If we dont fix the o-line issues, we will not be going very far in the playoffs. We look awful against the blitz, cant run block worth a darn (supposed to be Dockerys specialty) and we are going to struggle to keep TE on the field with the shots he keeps taking. We will not go far in the playoffs if this doesnt improve...and truth is, the O-line has been bad enough to have me concerned about even making the playoffs. Face it, whether you like it or not, NE is still dangerous, the Jets are still dangerous, and now MIA has just beaten 2 pretty good teams. Those 6 games are not going to be the cake walk everyone thinks they are. Making the playoffs is not a certainty and not going to be easy if our O-line gets abused every game. Throw in Den and SD into that mix, and our schedule isnt as fluff as everyone wants to believe.
Boatdrinks
Look, we all knew that this Oline is far better at pass blocking than run blocking. That is a problem if you want to win on the road. Nothing goes further on the road than a consistent running game. That said, the hit on TE had zero to do with the Oline. It was a freaking safety blitz! There is no one to block that guy. Therefore it is a "hot read" on the part of the QB and WR. The receiver has to make the sight adjustment and break off his route. The QB knows he's going to take a hit and has to deliver the ball. TE and Hardy did this perfectly. Wilson drove TE into the turf and Edwards head smacked on the ground. Was a borderline roughing call, and being on the road we didn't get the call. End of story. The Oline pass blocked fine. JP sucks at reading coverages and held the ball too long. That is why the line "looks" different with Losman in there. Same blocking, same effort, different QB. The Bills needed several things to win this game with or without TE in there. A consistent ground attack and efficient smart QB play. Good sturdy run D, some pass rush and solid tackling after the catch. No turnovers in minus territory. They did none of this, therefore they lost. bigskyfan
you cant put the sacks all on jp, edwards got sacked,, what four times in one half last game? the problem is the oline is getting beat at the point of attack,,,,they are not drive blocking defenders, there is no push, and lynch and edwards are left on there own. A successful running game yesterday could have controlled the ball, kept warner off the field and given the defense time to collect itself. The difference in TOP had a lot to do with lack of controlling the line of scrimmage. and we will be facing much better front sevens in games down the line,,,
billieve420
Fowler needs to go next year. I would rather move Butler to Center and draft a Tackle or Guard with our 1st round pick next year. Butler has played C before and I think we can upgrade both positions at the same time. Drafting a Center so High doesn't make the most sense to me.
