C.Biscuit97 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I would disagree. Peters we can replace. Jackson and Greer actually help us win. PTR
PistolPeaTear Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 9 million dollars a year? i bet a big market team couldve offered him a lot more. hes worth every penny
C.Biscuit97 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 9 million dollars a year? It's the market value for receivers now. Check out how the first 5 seasons of Evans' career compares to Marvin Harrison, TO, and Steve Smith. Then look at the QBs Evans has played with. He is good.
Fingon Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Probably would have gotten $10-13 mill on the open market.
John from Riverside Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 If I hadn't had sex during my lunch hour, I'd be very wet now. LOL
drnykterstein Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 i bet a big market team couldve offered him a lot more. hes worth every penny No he's not. But we can afford to pay it. So whatever.
WellDressed Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 WGR emailed this to me: "NFL Network's Adam Schefter is reporting the four-year deal is worth $37.5 million, $18.25 of which is guaranteed."
bluenews Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 If I hadn't had sex during my lunch hour, I'd be very wet now. .....what did you do for the other 58 minutes?
Simon Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 It's the market value for receivers now. Check out how the first 5 seasons of Evans' career compares to Marvin Harrison, TO, and Steve Smith. Then look at the QBs Evans has played with. He is good. Yeah, he's good. But at that chunk of salcap, the question is "Is he great?" He grabs fewer balls, scores fewer TD's and gains fewer yards than all those guys. And probably makes more money than any of them. He's a great guy and a very good player, but 9 million dollars a year is an awful lot of money to give to a 190lb wr who catches 60 balls a year, has only hit 1,000 yards once and has never caught 10 TD's. I'm glad he'll be around for a few but this signing is likely to cost us a good player or two down the road. Don't know whether it'll be worth it, particularly if it's a Stroud and/or a LWalker.
Beerball Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Interview is up at OBD if you want to give a look see.
nucci Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 This is good news. I can now buy that Evans jersey I have been holding off on the last few weeks... I wish that Bills fans would give this guy more credit, he doesn't seem to get the respect he is due IMO. The guy can grab catches way out of range (probably due to having JP for 3 years!!!) and once he gets used to Trents ability to put it in the basket, we are good to go !!! Thanks for signing with us Lee!!! B. All Bills fans I know give him great respect and we all wanted him signed.
generaLee83 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Sweet! Now I hope they focus on Greer. Way to go One BD. Agreed, add Fred Jackson to that list and I'll be a happy fan.
renfruzetz Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I'm with Simon. Lee's good but the 3rd highest paid WR in the NFL? I guess this is the upside of playing in Toronto.
jarthur31 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 .....what did you do for the other 58 minutes? Ouch. I ate. Interpret that however you may.
kegtapr Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 .....what did you do for the other 58 minutes? Cuddled with his hand.
StupidNation Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 puts him right below larry fitzgerald's 4 year 40 mil deal He's not in the same class as Fitz. This is a terrible deal. The guy deserves Berrian money, not a cent more. A 55-75 reception receiver is not a #1, he's simply a deep threat. Do we think we are the Yankees looking for homers now.
OCinBuffalo Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Great! Now it's: 1. Greer 2. Jackson 10. Peters...unless he gets his act together, he's lucky to be this high on the list.
KD in CA Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Phew! When I first saw this thread title I though maybe Lee had gotten hooked up with Travis Henry! Nice job to get him wrapped up now.
