DC Tom
This whole line of reasoning given by Republicans that McCain works with Democrats is a reason to support him seems hypocritical. If he supports Democrat legislation, and Democrat legislation is as bad as we're told by Republicans, then isn't that poor judgement on his part? Only for strictly partisan idiots like yourself. Wacka
Could have gotten drunker if you drank every time Biden outright lied. I've seen lists (with specific examples)where it said he lied 14 times.

DC Tom
How can you have a list without specific examples? I can think of two instances - both about Afghanistan, come to think of it - that could be interpreted as lying. I felt he was just sort-of obfuscating the truth, myself. This was all a marketing exercise anyway. On both sides, the truth of a statement was secondary to how good it sounded.
Lurker
Any time Palin answers a question, and someone at your party blurts out "WTF is she talking about?" Man, I'm thirsty.... "Palin said she had been "annoyed" in her interviews with CBS News anchor Katie Couric and had been caught off guard when asked what newspapers and magazines she reads and to name Supreme Court decisions she disagreed with — questions Palin appeared not to be able to answer. Her responses, Palin said, were "an indication of being outside that Washington elite, outside of the media elite also."
blzrul
At least he gave something to lie about. What did Palin say... Kinda like the grown-ups in Peanuts... "Wa, wa, wa." Ya, I can't figure out that accent. It's like an annoying cross between Minnesotan and backwoods Southern. Weird. She did an ok job. Basically when they train you to debate you get X talking points, and you stick with them. She did. I actually saw a reaction from a dingbat this morning who said Palin did great because, unlike Biden, she talked without using facts and figures. Unfreakinbelievable. So facts are bad? (Note: this lady didn't evaluate truth of said alleged facts, just that it was great how The Wingnut From Wasilla chatted without citing any nasty factual things that might lend her some credibility). ExiledInIllinois
What about the wink? Do you drink to that? The inflection in her voice? It must all be about people's individual personality... But, It is a very fine line when it comes down to folksy and hoaky for me. An Plain is just plain hoaky, IMO. The "Palin personality" is not unlike some here on the board... Also: A lot of Americans are like that. They will literally attempt to BS their way out of bag of sh*t. Blivets: 10 pounds of sh*t in a 5 pound bag. Does Alaska have rednecks? While we're criticizing...her calves are a bit too chunky for my tastes as well. Still not as grating a quality as her voice, though. blzrul
I keep thinking of Francis McDormund in Fargo... ExACTly! That's not why I don't like her of course ... but it makes her hard to take in large doses. I watched the debate but had to channel surf when it got too grating (I Tivo'd it and watched in smaller increments). It wasn't the kind of debate you could get into. I remember being at the Hyatt (Hilton?) airport hotel at Logan Airport when Lloyd Bentsen nailed Quayle (the Kennedy thing). It was almost like a football game, with people cheering (on both sides) and throwing popcorn at the antagonist when he scored a point. This was just too overall annoying. I haven't seen stats but I bet the initial audience was HUGE ... after 30 minutes I bet it dropped by 40-50%

I even tried to get into this debate...I said in the debate thread, I though Biden's and Palin's willingness to go off-question to rebut previous answers made it feel more like a real debate than most debates (though it was kind of annoying that they wouldn't answer the questions). But after listening to Palin for ten minutes, I feel like sticking screwdrivers in my ears to relieve the pain. The last half-hour was the television equivalent of a root canal. Now add to that McCain's weaselly voice...he sounds like his teeth are permanently gritted. Perhaps they did that to him in the Hanoi Hilton. You knew he was a POW right? Sorta funny story - went to have nails done yesterday. I haven't been to a salon in years that wasn't run and staffed by Vietnamese, this one no exception. The owner (husband) used to do day trading and he asked my friend and I what we thought of the bailout. (She's a Canadian so we had three different perspectives, but none of us like it.) From there it got to politics. He said that he was torn about who to vote for...he likes Obama but in 1995 he claims (I didn't look it up) that Biden voted against a bill that would have given free, unbridled entry into the US for Vietnamese. He said at least McCain knew how bad it could be in Vietnam... I of course didn't mention McCain's insistence on referring to Vietnamese as "gooks" or his stance on immigration today. It would have been too cruel.
