Rudyc80 Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 This is a good defense to get our confidence going a bit! The jets disected them last week and so should the Bills...no excuses, if we cant score at least 2 tds...thats embarrasing plain and simple. Also great test for the defense against a good colts offense. Should find out alot this week...GREAT TEST ALL IN ALL FOR BILLS AS A TEAM!!!
CosmicBills Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 I agree, it will be a very telling game...well, as telling as a preseason game can get. I hope they sit Travis (no need to get him banged up anymore), it will be good for Willis to see extended action with the first teamers and will give Simonton, Shaud Williams and (maybe...if he is healthy) Joe Burns more time to show what they've got before the first round of cuts.
Guest Guest Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 They have a terrible defense. We should be able to move the ball although, Henry might not be playing so that could hurt.
Mark VI Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 We looked horrid in pre-season during the Superbowl years. You can't put too much stock in August games.

You know, just get the first team O some much needed confidence. It's just a building block for the season. If we can put enough blocks together in the preseason, we won't have to climb too high once September rolls around.
IDBillzFan Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Keep in mind you likely won't see much of the first team during this game.
mary owen Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 let's see. so, the Patriots are going to really suck this year because hell, Cinci dissected them this past weekend. If I were the Bills, I'd get the 2nd and 3rd teamers even more time in. Rest MOST of our starters. Preseason should only be two games anyway. Play Kelsay, Denney, Gildon and Ritzman ALLOT. This is a good O line to test our biggest Defensive question mark going into the season. This will test our Safeties too. Throw in Baker and Wire allot. On Offense get Willis in early, no more than 1 quarter. But while he is in there, run his a$$ off. Run Shaud and Simonton the rest of the way. Find out what Big Mike can do. Play him till he drops 20 pounds. Make Sape and Anderson battle it out. Throw the youngn's to the sharks.
Guest Guest Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Im pretty sure this week is where the starters play the whole first half and somewhat into the second half.
Rudyc80 Posted August 24, 2004 Author Posted August 24, 2004 actuall, this is the most you will see the first team all preseason....the 3rd games is always the game the starters get the most time, infact they will likely play into the 3rd qtr based on their production in the first half! the 3rd preseason game is always the one that you look at as far as how the team looks! The 4th preseason game is the one where the starters barely even play in the 1st if at all, the 3rd game is the one the starters get the most time.
IDBillzFan Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 My bad. Was listening to Marv too much this weekend.
CosmicBills Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 You will definitely see all of the guys who are on the bubble on Saturday since the first cut is just days away.
HurlyBurly51 Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 OK, I haven't done this yet.....DOOOOOOOMED!!!
Foxboro Mike Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 This weekend could be a good test and confidence booster for J.P. (Just Play!) Losman and the incumbent QB.
Mark Vader Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 It would be a major boost to the fans morale if the Bills first team offense scored 2 TD's in this next game. Although I would be happy if they scored just 1 TD. Aside fom that, it is just a preseason game, so let's just see who can step up and make a claim as to who deserves to be on this team more than any other player.
BuffaloBob Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 We looked horrid in pre-season during the Superbowl years. You can't put too much stock in August games. 5730[/snapback] Of course, because everyone tries to play vanilla and rarely game-plans much before the last preseason game. But, this is ESPECIALLY true when a team is installing an entirely new offense (inlcuding new blocking assignments and techniques up-front). I suspect that the offense wil need every one of its preseason games to really start getting in synch. So while I would, of course, rather see the offense move the ball and score in the red zone, I am not going to take that as a sign that the O has arrived anymore than a mediocre showing would lead me to the inevitable follow-up to this thread: WE'RE DOOOOOOMED!

They have been quite pathetic in that area. 2. Some separation in the TE competition. Looks like we haven't yet got our 2nd and 3rd TE spots nailed down. 3. better blocking for the run. 4. Who is going to be our 3rd RB and FB
