I have a guy who's large. Large. About 350lbs. Does anyone know where you can get cars/suvs customized for large people with heavy duty seats, etc.?

There are plenty of 350 lb pro football players that drive Bentleys, Rolls, Lexus's, big BMW sedans. big SUVs and the like. I'm not being a wiseguy here.

Most manufacturers (not all - Ferrari, Maserati and the like) have handicap adaptation programs. GM, Ford, and Chrysler have the best programs - the Japanese and European manufacturers aren't so good. You've probably never seen a Toyota van with chair lifts...

But I don't think any of them accommodate (or are forced by law) to provide heavy-duty seats for heavier people.

I'm not aware of especial heavy-duty seats. But they may be out there - and if so, I'd think they would be quite pricey. A manufacturer of such would have to attain certification of compliance with Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (MVSS) which is a costly undertaking, as well as documented destructive testing during all manufacturing runs.

Any GM full size sedan or SUV would work fine. Over the past year I have had a Chevy Malibu, Chevy Impala, and a GMC Envoy as rentals. I'm 6'2" about 220 and I felt like a midget in them. I actually had to move the seat up.

This is exactly what I was thinking. I've called 2 dealers to see what they can do and should hear something soon. Right now it looks like this will be my best (and costly) option. But what the hey... if you can't spend money, why make it.

maybe they should start walking more?

That was my first thought! Buy him a treadmill then a new car in 6 months.

That's what my first thought was. But, seeing his current vehicle's interior, he definitely needs something more.

He's our business manager. So, he spends most days behind a desk (in a special made chair). However, being the great outfit that we are, we give everyone a company vehicle. His is 5 or 6 years old and pretty well ragged out - Especially the interior driver side seat. I think he has a Yukon (some big SUV gas guzzling thing). He's had to just deal with it, but we're having a decent fall and thought it nice to reward him with a shiny new vehicle.

Somebody's lying here!

Serious time...why doesn't your company spring for a 6 month gym membership as well?

Wow. You do give your employees everything. I'm not familiar w/ ANY regular vehicle where the drivers seat is anywhere but in the interior. :pirate:

(I have seen some pretty cool mods of vehicles where the relocate the seats & controls to elsewhere.)

You might be the only one who is. Can I come work for you? :pirate:

We may be. Hurricanes are good for us. It's terrible to say, I know. I'm looking to replace some folks this year. Willing to live in the south?

He's been on all sorts of weight loss programs and such. Doctor ordered and overseen mostly. You name it, he's done it. He's actually lost weight. So, getting him down to 350ish is seen as a positive sign.

Screw that, get him Gastric bypass surgery. Then after that you can save a shiit load of money on gas by buying him a fuel efficient car. You'll have the surgery paid off in a year based on the difference in gas milage between a full size SUV and a Mini Cooper. :pirate:

I read about a guy who got his bunghole stapeled shut. Dr. says he's full of shiite.

To myself would work.

Seriously. We need to hire a good accountant or firm or someone that can handle money. I'm just good at spending it.

Check the Hyundai line. My friends kid is like 6'5", 335lbs, and he fits in an elantra I think it is. Lots of head room, and the seats go pretty far back.
