PastaJoe Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 He says he's going to Washington to work on the economic crisis. He previously said he didn't know much about economics, and now they can't figure it out without him? This sounds like another hail mary publicity stunt. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26872907/
molson_golden2002 Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080924/ap_on_el_pr/mccain A doer he is! I'm changing my vote to John McCain, a true doer!

This sounds like another hail mary publicity stunt. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26872907/ its a stunt and forces Obama to do the same. Just trying to show us those leadership qualities he has and how he has taken on worse than washington and wall street
ExiledInIllinois Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 "If we do not act, ever corner of our country will be impacted," McCain said. "We cannot allow this to happen." And so apparently will his bid for President. Let it happen and let Obama handle it. Where was McCain during the S & L? Probably in one of his AZ vacation homes... Sedona is pretty this time of the year, no?
DC Tom Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 He says he's going to Washington to work on the economic crisis. He previously said he didn't know much about economics, and now they can't figure it out without him? This sounds like another hail mary publicity stunt. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26872907/ Of COURSE it's a publicity stunt. All the photo ops right now are on the Hill, and he's in the extreme elsewhere. Not to mention it's a great response to the "he's out of touch with the ecoonomy" criticisms..."Oh yeah? Then why am I in Washington working with the rest of the Senate on the most important vote of the year?" Doubly so if Obama doesn't follow suit (though I fully expect he will) and he can follow up with "Where's my opponent? Why is he too busy campaigning to do his job?" Gotta admit...smart campaign move. Means about as much as me cancelling my dinner plans to work on the economy, IMO...but it looks good.
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 War heros aren't supposed to look like pu$$ies. Stuff like this could actually drive us into a complete depression. I can see folks now getting more worried sinc ethe candidates are responding this way and starting more runs on banks etc. Sometimes leadership requires showing calmness in crisis

Obama's here in my neck of the woods studing up for the debate. He'll follow suit and look bad doing so. Great campaign move by JM.
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 McCain said "if Congress does not pass legislation to address the crisis, credit will dry up, people will no longer be able to buy homes, life savings will be at stake and businesses will not have enough money" YIKES This should help set peoples minds at ease. I can see panic setting in really soon
PastaJoe Posted September 24, 2008 Author Posted September 24, 2008 Obama should offer to switch the debate to somewhere in Washington, and have it about economic issues. Don't let McCain run away from the debate. If McCain is smart enough to know what to do, he should be smart enough to discuss it in a debate.
Lurker Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 This sounds like another hail mary publicity stunt. I'd say the latest poll numbers probably have something to do with it...

Don't let McCain run away from the debate. If McCain is smart enough to know what to do, he should be smart enough to discuss it in a debate. Interesting item: The Obama campaign said Obama had called McCain around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday to propose that they issue a joint statement in support of a package to help fix the economy as soon as possible. McCain called back six hours later and agreed to the idea of the statement, the Obama campaign said. McCain's statement was issued to the media a few minutes later. Starting to look like a Abbott and Costello routine " Who's on first"
molson_golden2002 Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 No worries! Sarah Palin is left in the field to do battle for McCain! She's the only one drawing crowds anyways. NEW YORK - Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin said Wednesday that the United States could be headed for another Great Depression if Congress doesn't act on the financial crisis. Palin made the comment in an interview with CBS evening news anchor Katie Couric while visiting New York to meet foreign leaders for the first time in her political career. As Palin sought to establish her credentials in world affairs, first lady Laura Bush said that Palin lacked sufficient foreign policy experience but was "a quick study." ROTF! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080924/ap_on_el_pr/palin
