rockpile
If I recall correctly, it was a brutally painful Chad Pennington-like out pattern that got picked and run back by Bubba McDowell in the blink of an eye. A friend and I watched the game in a bar. It was blacked out locally, but bars could still legally show a satellite feed of the game. The place was elbow to elbow the whole first half, as I stood there with a glass in one hand and a pitcher of beer in the other, and not even a wall to lean on. When it was 28-7 at the half the place emptied out a bit and my friend asked what I wanted to do. I pointed to some now open seats with a good view of the big screen, reminded him the wives might want us to take them to a mall, or fix something, or watch the kids if we went home, and noted that the beer was cold. So we sat down. On the opening of the third and the quick turn to 35-7, half the bar left, and he asked me again. I looked at him and said "the beer is still cold" so we stayed. The rest is history. BillsFan-4-Ever
I heard there was a mass exodus in the 3rd Quarter. They can see the writing on the wall. Matty Ice (they should shoot the idiot who coined that name) sucks plain and simple 2 wins against poor teams. And a WTF just happened blowout loss to a team that won 1 game out of it's last 18. I had the good fortune of watching that game in Florida with the Orlando Bills Backers, which at the time was a huge group of about 200+ fans. Interestingly, it seemed like virtually no one left, even after the 3rd quarter pick. One of my favorite memories of hanging with that group was when the Bills scored to make it 35-14, one of the guys who was at our table missed it because he was in the bathroom. He came out, we got the onside kick, and we sent him back to the bathroom since we were all convinced his absence was the reason we scored. Once we made it 35-21, we kept making him go back to the bathroom every time we got the ball because we just didn't want to take any chances. :D What a great group that was. I miss hanging with the backers, but I much prefer watching the games at home now that I'm on the left coast. I used to drive up toward Santa Monica to hang with that group before I got The Ticket, but it was killing me. They close the doors, close whatever windows were in their, turn on the game in the dark, and while the clock says it's 9:30 a.m., your body sees football and is convinced is almost 1 p.m. So I'd do what I always did in Florida...start drinking before kickoff. Being hammered by noon was very, very bad for me.
