RLflutie7 Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 At the same time in their careers, as far as games started, Culter is light years ahead of Elway. Elway had a tough go of it and he's a hall of fame guy, but Jay finds open guys better and he runs a standard offense better than Elway did.

Yeah and Trent has been able to lead his team to more victories over his first 11 starts then Peyton Manning, just seems to be a better leader at this point then Peyton was.

Elway has 5 SB appearances, 2 SB rings and is in the HoF, Cutler has no SB appearances, no rings and probably doesn't know where the HoF is located. End of story.
Beerball Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Hall of Fame QBs are overrated. If I remember right, this is the same guy who said that Doug Flutie had a stronger arm than Peyton Manning. After he jumped ship to the broncos he also extolled the abilities of Plummer.

After 2 games........ come on .......... what if he sucks the next 5 ...... === JAY CUTLER <---------------- Not yet Mr. Bronco Lover!!

Captain Hindsight Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 what a homer comment. Cuttler is over hyped. I think he is a good player yet and is a great system but he is a bit hyped up for a guy who makes alot of mistakes. Kind of like Romo and Favre, good players who make alot of bonehead plays
KD in CA Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 RJ is still better than nobody. Right now.
RLflutie7 Posted September 17, 2008 Author Posted September 17, 2008 For the smarty pants out there: Elway first 25 starts: 25 TDs, 4261 yards and a 51.9% rate. Jay Cutler first 23 starts: 35 TDs, 5148 yards and a 63.4% rate

Jay Cutler first 23 starts: 35 TDs, 5148 yards and a 63.4% rate Another reason stats are so meaningless. Elway was a lifetime 56.87% passer. JP Losman is a career 59.14 % passer. So according to your logic, JP Losman is better than a 1st ballot Hall of Famer-GTFO.

He is especially talented at using jedi mind tricks against refs to ignore his fumbles
zow2 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 I don't know about being better than ELway BUT I will say this... I'll never forget watching one of those pre-draft shows before the 2006 draft. Merrill Hoge of ESPN was breaking down the top QB's and he raved about Cutler being far and away the best QB available. He said Vince Young and Matt Leinhart would be far inferior NFL QB's compared to Cutler and dang...Merrill nailed it so far! Cutler should have been the first QB taken.
