That’s what the Dems said when they took over control of Congress.

9% approval rating. HA!

And what about that guy Charlie Rangel? He’s pretty ethical, no?

He's a piece of freakin sh-- like the rest of them.

Among the new discrepancies:

--Rangel's papers over the past 10 years show no reference to the sale of a home he once owned on Colorado Avenue in Washington.

--The details of a property bought in Sunny Isles, Fla., are bewildering at best. The stated value changes significantly from year to year, and even page to page, from $50,000 to $100,000 all the way up to $500,000.

--Some of the entries for investment funds fluctuate strangely, suggesting that the person either didn't have accurate information or didn't fill out the paperwork correctly.

Rangel spent the past week trying to answer questions about his ethics and his finances.

He acknowledged that he owes the Internal Revenue Service about $5,000 in back taxes for unreported income from the rental of his vacation villa, and probably a smaller amount to state and city tax collectors.

The congressman acknowledged he made mistakes but said they were errors of omission and should not lead to the loss of his high position in Congress.

The home in the Dominican Republic has proven a major embarrassment to the 78-year-old Rangel, who conceded he never reported the rental income over a 20-year period, received a no-interest mortgage on the place for more than half that time and claims to have no idea what it is worth today.

The ethics committee is also investigating Rangel's rental of three rent-stabilized apartments in his home district of Harlem, as well as his use of official congressional stationery to try to find private donors for a college center named after the lawmaker.

What's that, the Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee has been blatantly cheating on his taxes for decades? Ho-Hum. No big deal; after all he's got a '-D' after his name so obviously he 'cares about the people'.

This is much less important than whether or not John McCain know how to use email. ;)

Oh...it was just a 'miscommunication' with his accountant.

I'm likewise shocked that the posters here who are supposedly so concerned about 'issues' haven't been able to take a break from mocking Sarah Palin's accent to comment on this. But I'm sure the NY Times editorial calling for his head will be published any day now.

I'll bet you a c-note the only comment they'd have would be spining it to a Rep. Congressman tapping his foot in a bathroom stall sending e-mails to John McCain that wont get read about Moose soup from an Alaskan Hockey Mom with no experence getting interviewed by an ASShat named Charlie Gibson.

He'll just "denounce" his accountant of 20 years and all will be forgiven.

No, no, no. This is just another example of WHY tax rates MUST be made higher on "the rich". The rich ALWAYS cheat on their taxes (although on occassion it is accidentally of course, right Mr. Rangel?) so their nominal tax rates must be increased to keep their actual tax rates that they end up paying as being "fair". This is not about class warfare nor is it about partisanship. It is about an inherent fairness and equality of outcome that every American has a non-denominational creator's given right to.

How could the media possibly be outraged in this matter? There is nothing to be outraged about. Chairman Rangel made an honest mistake, over and over and over again for several years. You can't really expect ANYONE to understand all the minutiae of tax law, especially not the guy who is actually writing it.:lol::lol:
