Henry Jones was on the University of Illinois campus last Saturday as the school honored the 10 greatest Illini at each football position (kickers, punters and long-snappers were 'Specialists').

Here's my picture with him: Henry Jones and Champaign Mike

I told him I watched the entire Comeback game and never turned it off. He laughed and said that everybody tells him that. He was extremely nice and had his family with him.

By the way, Dave Diehl, who's a Guard for the New York Giants was there being honored too. He had his Super Bowl ring and was wearing it on his pinkie (mob style?). That is some serious bling and I cannot wait for Buffalo players to add that piece of jewelry to their fingers....... someday.

Great story, Mike. Bad link, though.

That's awesome Mike. Henry Jones is one of my favorite players from the 90s.

Agreed. Sad though the first thing that comes to mind these days regarding HJ is that atrocious call on the hail Mary...stinking Patriots*. Anyway, nice pic!

First thing that comes to mind for me about HJ is the year they instituted that 'removal of the helmet on the field' penalty. This was to discourage the showboating and individual attention. This happened at the first (and only) game I went to at RWS, vs. the Lions in '97. He took his helmet off after a big stop to force a FG try, just over the crown of his head and then suddenly remembered and shoved it back on. He got flagged for it, no leeway. Lions QB ran in for a TD on the next play.

Always admired his play in my nascent years of following this team and the orchestration of his departure by our FO (to go along w/ Bruce, Andre & Thurman's) fairly pissed me off.
