BillsD#1in2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Share Posted September 9, 2008 Will get a catch against the Jags i mean i only saw the guy on the field probably 5 times so do you think he struggled that much in practice or do you think we are working him in slowly? I'm in no way calling him a bust but i thought he was supposed to be a big part of our offense and not once did i see evans look at him.....WTF????? Anyways the whole game i was waiting for a fade route to Hardy or a crossing route but nothing. So my ? is do you think he will even get a catch this week or even get a ball thrown his way? DDD Posted September 9, 2008 Share Posted September 9, 2008 I know he is a rookie and had hamstring issues in camp, but if the guy can't beat out Josh Reed or Roscoe Parrish then it certianly raises some concerns. Koufax Posted September 9, 2008 Share Posted September 9, 2008 Um...I am not worried. He is a rookie on a team with multiple veteran receivers. We did not have anything in their red zone all day pretty much, when he would have been most likely to be used. And he would have been more obvious than Denny on the fake FG despite being no taller I look forward to some serious contributions from him, McKelvin and others who didn't do much on Sunday as the season progresses, but I don't think we have any urgency or reason for alarm. Rookie receivers can sometimes take a while to get going, his strength is his size and not his polish, so he would take a little longer to hit his stride, and he also had the hamstring setback keeping him away from reps. I don't think he will take multiple years like Youboty, but I am not sounding any alarm bells heading into week 2. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

2003Contenders Posted September 9, 2008 Share Posted September 9, 2008 I wouldn't worry too much. 1. Evans racked up over 100 yards. And that doesn't count all of the near-hookups that he and Trent had on Sunday. 2. The game never got to a point where we needed to get into a pass-happy mode. 3. For as much as folks are down on Reed, he really does a lot of things in addition to catching the ball that helps the offense. 4. It is nice to see our team (for a change) set enough with talent that we don't HAVE to rely on the rookies to contribute right away. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Hardy wasnt on the field much and i dont think had any balls thrown to him. Now, before anyone gets all worked up that he's a bust, please realize that normal and *gasp* GOOD teams do not have to rely on their rookies to make an impact during their first professional appearance. we are lucky that we now have a team of capable and healthy veterans that can play well. Hardy will get his time and i believe will be used more and more as time goes on. id bet that after the bye week he becomes a cog in this offense. I think they are much more game-specific. I think that the Bills thought that we're at home, it's the first game, we have a new offense, it's Trent's first game as the bona fide starter, the Seahags are hurting on offense (won't score a lot) and a veteran defense, and the team simply felt that we could best win this game with the two vets Reed and Parrish in there in the first game. And it worked out that way. Plus Reed was getting open. Lee Evans also said last night on his radio show that they had some plays for Hardy in the red zone but they never really got there inside the 20 much (Lynch scored from the 21 and Royal from the 30). Snorom Posted September 9, 2008 Share Posted September 9, 2008 pathetic. You have Reeed and Parrish who are vets. Reed is solid and probably 50 x's the blocker Hardy is. Parrish has earned his touches and deserves his spot. Hardy is a rookie, and he needs to earn more playing time, and eventually will. Confidence is a big thing, a good athlete can be ruined by trying to throw him into the fire to quick. Its hard to be confident when your still learning the offense.
