One of the things that was so frustrating with the hold out was the lack of communication. That neither side fought this out through the media will turn out to be extremely important in the long run. As long as we get off to a good start the hold out will be mostly forgotten before mid-season.

We will never know the details but Peters said that wasn't a big deal, that they were talking to his agent and that for himself, he wasn't the one to talk to about numbers. And I think you are correct, that Peters and his agent didn't engage in a media war will be very helpful in the long run. Brandon however did have that "track record of silence" press conference and sure enough, Peters was asked about that specific comment. Brandon stopped talking in public after that and it doesn't look like anything he said that first time did any damage to his relationship with Peters.

Ahem......probowl.......considered by most analysts to be in the top 3 at his position.

Decent season as a pass-blocker :censored:

Not very good at run-blocking(technically speaking probably correct......he is most likely simply good at run-blocking).

And it wasn't just one season, he was very, very good his first year as a starter which is why he was moved to LT that year and also why he ended up on plenty of pro bowl ballots though he didn't actually make it. Peter King for example had him on his ballot.

Hopefully, this will be his third year as a very, very good OT.

My favorite line from the article linked on TBD home page...

Finally back and talking, he’s still damaged his team by both missing a huge opportunity to get even better and thinking that ignoring his present contract is the best way to get a new deal, a ridiculous negotiation ploy that brought to mind George Costanza’s dealings with NBC.

What Peters learned is no player can bring any pressure to bear on this organization- also the fans can't bring any pressure to bear on this organization- the local media can't and probably state and local government can't either- the Bills are a take it or leave it product and if a bunch of people left it they'd just move to greener pastures.

The folks who do not see that the business and the sport are both legitimate things but two different things are shortsighted IMHO.

The one thing most fans want from these players is maturity beyond their years. It's not always going to happen, especially when guys like Lynch and Peters are millionaires with immense talent not long out of college. If fans want to get mad at them because they might disrupt our favorite professional team, well fine. But the truth is, our favorite pro athletes are usually not much older than college kids. They're great athletes who rely on agents for advice, and given that they've been concentrating on a pro career for years, it's not surprising to let them allow an agent to represent them.

I'm glad Peters reported and will be lining up this week or soon thereafter because Parker told him to be there. But you're right PG, it is a business with huge dollars being thrown around. It's one thing for someone in their 40s and 50s to make big money, but imagine 20 somethings taking home millions and having agents tell them what's best. Peters isn't stupid, but he's 26 freaking years old. The holdout is over, and the sky's the limit for him.
