olivier in france Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 i find it very ironic that the origin of the end of the world 'd be peaceful Switzerland ("no war fought since 1515" TM) instead of some nuclear war apocalypse!

olivier in france Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012#Metaphysical_predictions i like the pole reversal and the earth turning the other way stuff!! (but wonder what kind of impact it would have...)
olivier in france Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 The end according to the Mayan Calendar will come on 12/21/12 Does that mean we can pass on X Mas shopping that year?! Cool! But if nothing happens expect jams in the stores dec 22nd!!!!
Bullpen Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 The end according to the Mayan Calendar will come on 12/21/12 Is that a Sunday? If so who do the Bills play? Wow, I'm in quite a predicament whether to start my christmas shopping before then or hedge my bet and wait until the 22nd...
Ramius Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Is that a Sunday? If so who do the Bills play? Wow, I'm in quite a predicament whether to start my christmas shopping before then or hedge my bet and wait until the 22nd... Go hog wild with the xmas shopping, because you'll never have to pay off the bill.
/dev/null Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Is that a Sunday? If so who do the Bills play? I don't know. But it's my freakin birthday. I'm trying to see if the Mayans can postpone the Apocolypse for a day. I could care less if the world ends on 12/22 because I'll be hungover
Tux of Borg Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I just hope the LHC isn't running on Microsoft Vista.
molson_golden2002 Posted September 11, 2008 Author Posted September 11, 2008 The News Hour had an interview with a scientist about this thing. Was pretty interesting what they are doing, smashing these protons together to see what other matter is created. They are trying to find out what Dark Matter is and all that.

I've seen some stuff on TV here too.... One scientist was saying they hoped to discover what and where is the "94% of matter that we don't know anything about". I don't know how they get to that 94% figure but that's fascinating...

The greatest book I have ever read is A Brief History of Time- and Hawking describes everything that CERN is researching. I highly recommend that book, especially if you are interested in the LHC
DrDawkinstein Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 its funny how smart the posters here can get when the topic of discussion isnt the Bills...
