IR'd too soon

Recommended Posts

I really think that Crowell screwed the pooch when he decided to have this surgery 3 days before the opener. Clearly he was not straight with management about the severity of his injury otherwise they would have keep another linebacker on there roster not a special teams player in Corto. That being said the Bills should have waited at least through the weekend to determine whether or not to IR Crowell. He would be back in 4-6 weeks and in a contract year he would work very hard to showcase his talents for any interested teams looking towards acquiring his services for next season. The Bills could have signed a stop gap Linebacker for 4-6 weeks and welcomed back Crowell. Crowell from week 6 on is better then Blake Costanzo for 16 weeks.

Crowell gets the majority of the blame here but the Bills were too quick to pull the trigger on IR ing him.

This is a really disappointing situation

Because as always the players are innocent little pawns and Mr Burns...errr...RW is sitting up in his booth quietly repeating his mantra "Dance my puppets. Dance"

Could it not be possible that Crowell thought he would be healthy come game 1 and then when he wasn't decided he would go ahead and get his knee scoped.

Unless it comes out that this surgery would cause Crowell to miss 10 or more weeks, then no explanation (eg. roster space, spite, money ect) for placing him on IR will be acceptable. The sad thing is this type of thing feels like norm around Bills drive and not irregular. It's always something for the Bills.

From what I have read, this problem has been chronic. If that is the case, the surgery should have been done in the off season, or at least at the beginning of camp.

What we don't know is was the IR put on after the surgery or before. How bad are the knees? Will he need more extensive surgery to repair whatever damage is in there?
