No good news in here.

The Bills have all the power here.Peters has none. He will be 29 when he gets to choose his own team..and he won't have played any football or made a dime.

Why is he afraid of showing up? ...we all hate to think about the possibility that he is injured.

eddie kilgore is still doing sports in bflo? pretty good. im waiting for irv weinstein and tom toles and ric azar to sound in next. but really, i like eddie, and he is right. wilson has peters in his doghouse and won't budge.

peters is a 26 yr old punk who had success fall into his lap. a man who forgot where he came from and ran into the loving arms of mean-gene parker, a power agent who seeks to hold the game hostage at the expense of the game itself and the player. the player gets more money, but the game is watered down, ultimately. the rational is that the player needs security and can loose their career on one play. its a game. a game with big money involved and business standards and protocol used. both sides have their worthwhile points.

it would be a shame to sit peters. a young guy who should be using his skills. on the other hand, he made his bed. peters tried to muscle an old man who has seen his share of shake down agents like parker and young players who are clouded by greed. parker thought wilson would roll over b/k the team sucks and peters is a building block type player. this is wilsons team and he runs it like a business. parker should appreciate that. after all, isnt he and his fellow agents mantra, 'THIS IS a BUSINESS?" peters will get his money, but why bicker over $1-4 mil when you have NO standing, other than one season in a probowl, in a down yr (rookie joe thomas wsa the starter -- weak crop, ogden had retired) and you limped off the field with a torn groin last time wilson saw you? peters has no standing.

Those years don't come off the contract while he's sitting out. Not that I think it'll come to that, but he's not getting any closer to the end of the contract until he's back with the team.

The biggest thing in there is the complete silence from that side, unlike any other Parker holdout. There was always communication between the player and at least the coaching staff. Not returning teammates' messages is beyond bizarre.

Piggybacking on Brad's point, does anyone know with certainty the date on which Peters must report to get credit for the year? I remember it being something like "you have to play in week 10 and beyond" to get credit for the season.

I believe it is week 10 that he has to report by in order to get credit for the season and if he does wait til then he would have missed 9 paychecks and accumulated a lot of fines ( $15k per day since camp started I believe )

I actually thought he was going to report before the season but I dont see it happening now and I wouldnt have a problem trading him if someone is willing to give the Bills a deal that included at least a 1st round pick

Yeah I don't see that happening, but it might be best for all involved at this point. First round draft pick and maybe a decent LB thrown in there.

Does anyone even think Peters could pass a physical right now? Any potential trade partner will want a thorough physical evaluation after what happened to him last season...

December 26, 2007 - The Buffalo Bills will look to finish the season on a high note this Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, but will have to do so without Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters. Peters, who started the team's first 15 games, will be forced to sit out due to a re-aggravated groin injury suffered in Buffalo's 38-21 loss to the New York Giants. Jauron said Peters had been bothered by a sore groin for several weeks before aggravating it when his right leg slid out from under him while blocking Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora. Peters lay on the field for several minutes before limping off on his own. He watched from the sideline before being escorted to the Bills locker room with two minutes left in the second quarter. Unfortunately, week 17 isn't the only thing in question. The groin injury has hampered Peters all season and could ultimately keep him out of the Pro Bowl in February.

Peters is a good player. But the offense was 30th in the league, so how much worse can they get in his absence? I just don't understand that part about neither him nor his agent contacting the team. That makes no sense. Do they think the Bills are psychic, or that they will just pull the money truck up to his house? He's a beast. With the right coaching and playcalling, you don't need Pro Bowl calibre lines. Look at the Super Bowl Giants a few years back. 40% of their line was cut by the Bills.....Zeigler and Parker. Screw Peters. Get him out of here.

Maybe he'll go the way of that DL they got as part of the trade with Philly last year, when we dumped whatsisname, the Cincinnati all pro who tore his achilles. That guy never showed up, got traded to Chicago, signed the next day, and I think he sucked there too, and got cut. Takeo Spikes, that's the LB. Sorry, I digress. Point is, you can't poison the team chemistry by rewarding this guy for sitting out forever. Trade him to the Rams, they can't draft anyway. They might as well give up a number one and two. O Pace is on his last leg.

That's the best public piece I've seen written on this subject yet. Peters is destroying his reputation. What a shame, this was a guy that could have been one of the all time Bills greats - he's that talented. But I'd take a 1 and an impact player if he's going to be this much of a distraction.

I agree, I think he's done in Buffalo. They can hold his rights until nobody will want to touch him for his time away from the game.

I am just starting to feel really vindictive as a fan.....

I hope they do not trade him or give him a new contract.....

Let him rot.....not play a down.......let him come in at week 10 of every season left on his contract......remove NO fines....and lets see what this ungrateful POS is worth having not played a down in what......3 years?

He wont be worth anything....his best years will be behind him......and he wont get squat.....

I believed he deserved more money but lets not forget this was a undrafted free agent TE who the bills took a flyer on and CULTIVATED into a premiere offensive linemen.......then he was given a new deal.....then given a bonus for moving to LT......

I am done with him....I dont even want him back.

You guys are looking at this all wrong. PETERS is the one with the leverage. He was an undrafted FA. He has already made more money than most UDFAs ever will. The rest is all gravy.

He was a bad player coming out of college or else he would have been drafted. He is really good now. He is sporadic. Look it up if you need to look it up. He could get bad again just as quickly. Why not cash in right now?

How do you go about "looking up that Peters is both really good and sporadic"?

He was bad enough to not even get drafted.

Then he was good enough to make the Pro Bowl.

Sporadic. appearing or happening at irregular intervals in time; occasional: sporadic renewals of enthusiasm.

There. I looked it up for you. Get it now? Translation: He could get bad again at any minute. Maybe he isn't hurt but he just "lost it" during the offseason. He knows the Bills will see it in their first practice so he wants his $ now.

I too am nearing this point myself. If things change we will see how much can be forgiven and forgotten, but right now I'm fine going with who we have, and watching this blow up in his face. I hope the Bills hold the hard line whatever happens.

Speaking of vindictive. If you want to screw with PArker or just to yell at his receptionist here's his company contact info. FYI, it's different than what you get if you google it. This is off the NFLPA website directory.
