Can't Wait To Hear McCain Address Immigration Tonight

Recommended Posts

Wonder how the faithful will react to his immigration plan? Last year it was the "single biggest threat facing this republic, now nothing."

I think that may have played a role in his selection of Palin, as she had nothing at all to do with that issues being from way up north. She said nothing about this great threat last night. Wouldn't that have been a gas if she endorsed his plan right when the crowd was at a fever pitch?

Can the Democrats pay Lou Dobbs to start up his crap again on this issue?

Not sure what you are getting at - his immigration plan is dead. The outrage subsided because he basically has been saying "I've heard the will of the people, I'll secure the borders first, and only then deal with amnesty." And despite the way it is portrayed in the media, most of the outrage was over the sense of losing control of the borders and the laws, not the issue of the immigrants themselves. There is still some distrust, but his mea culpa's and clear statements on what his priorities will be have pretty much neutralized the revolt.

Demagogy (also demagoguery) (Ancient Greek δημαγωγία, from δῆμος dēmos "people" and ἄγειν agein "to lead") refers to a political strategy for obtaining and gaining political power by appealing to the popular prejudices, emotions, fears and expectations of the public — typically via impassioned rhetoric and propaganda, and often using nationalist or populist themes.

Did you see the GOP video they wer showing on terrorism? I caught it on PBS while they were showing to the right leaning lemmings.

Those are great points, and they jive with the high profile immigration busts that have taken place around the nation to make it look like something is being done, but no way is the border secure. And I can't fully believe the immigrants themselves are not a huge part of the issue. I know people that complain about having spanish language on ATM machines. And McCain isn't building the fence or any of that. No, this "Great Threat" has suddenly been dropped. Al-Quida coming over the border? Forget it.

When I said the outrage has subsided, I meant the outrage against McCain over his bill - not the outrage on the immigration issue itself.

Actually, the remains of Gustav are pounding us pretty intense and steady... The Lake Michigan elevation shot up by a foot and it is climbing to about +1.00 (highest I have seen in a quite some years)... The dam is buttoned up tighter than a nun... I wouldn't be suprised to be seeing a 5+ inch rainfall when I look at the rain gauge @ 0600. I am in for the long haul double till 0800 and 8 OT.

Yeah, you guys are getting pounded.

Here in Cleveland, it was cloudy and 90 degrees today. Second day in a row we've reached 90 after a below-average August.

By the way, I just want to wish my nephew Stephen James Murphy a happy first birthday tonight!!

I think it is slowing down now... I can't remember a time when the whole state was covered with rain... I might check the rain guage and record half the data now so as not let the guage over flow.
