BeastMode54 Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 that's what happens when you represent yourself and don't have an agent. I'm sure if he had decent representation he would have found work somewhere
Dante Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Should have retired about 20 sacks ago. For sure. He's pretty much been retired the last couple years. I was kinda laughing at NFL Sirius saying they had "BREAKING NEWS!" Thinking maybe something big like Peters back in the fold or something. Culpepper? Who gives a $hite.
Captain Hindsight Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Should have retired about 20 sacks ago. I hoped for him he would land somewhere and at least get a shot but as someone said earlier no team wanted someone who represented himself
Dan III Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Tim Couch, Akili Smith, Cade McNown, Daunte Culpepper.. McNabb officially wins the QB battle of '99.
stuckincincy Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Good luck to him. Culpepper played hard, and gave it what he had. I don't think anyone could call him a bum on the playing field.
eball Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 If only his hands had been appropriately matched to his body...the guy would have been All-World with a Nerf.
Steely Dan Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Good luck to him. Culpepper played hard, and gave it what he had. I don't think anyone could call him a bum on the playing field. Agreed. Since when does the inability to find a job qualify as retiring?
HopsGuy Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Good luck to him. Culpepper played hard, and gave it what he had. I don't think anyone could call him a bum on the playing field. Born in prison and raised by a foster grandmother. The guy overcame quite a bit. I loved it when he tore up the Fish last year.
ricojes Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 This is most likely a Favre "retirement", he'll be back once there's a team the needs a QB mid-season. Remember when Culpepper first was signed by Miami? They instantly became the team to beat and legitimate contender for the SB. I know he was coming of a serious injury and there were questions about his health, but it kind of reminds me of Favre signing with the Jets.
stuckincincy Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I loved it when he tore up the Fish last year. ???
Cynical Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 ??? As a Raider, Culpepper lead Oakland to a victory over the Phins. His overall stats were bad, but he did manage to throw 2 TD's, and ran for 3 more for a total of 5 TD's.
LabattBlue Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I was listening to the sirius nfl channel when they announced this as "breaking" news. Where is the news? A former NFL QB who won't sign a contract to be a backup(he had at least 2 offers, GB and another team) and turned both down because he wanted to compete for a starting job. He was unemployed the entire offseason and is still unemployed today. Who cares! The season starts tonight and Shein and Wilcots couldn't stop droaning on about Culpepper.
drnykterstein Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 that's what happens when you represent yourself and don't have an agent. I'm sure if he had decent representation he would have found work somewhere Meh, I think it's more because he sucks than anything.
MattyT Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I think WE all knew...today is just the first day that Daunte realized.
stuckincincy Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I think WE all knew...today is just the first day that Daunte realized. Well said, and likely so. I can't see why some wish to slam the guy - he was entertaining to watch in his heyday...kicking him now is pretty cheesy...
scribo Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Well, making it official means he can get on that ballot in five years!
C.Biscuit97 Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Meh, I think it's more because he sucks than anything. He's still alot better than a lot of QBs who have jobs right now (maybe some on this team). He just outpriced himself and probably wouldn't settle for backup money.
