Great speech...................if she was running for Vice President of the PTA!

And the way it is turning out, the nation to her seems to be Harper Valley:

I want to tell you all a story 'bout a Harper Valley widowed wife

Who had a teenage daughter who attended Harper Valley Junior High

Well her daughter came home one afternoon and didn't even stop to play

She said, "Mom, I got a note here from the Harper Valley P.T.A."

The note said, "Mrs. Johnson, you're wearing your dresses way too high

It's reported you've been drinking and a-runnin' 'round with men and going wild

And we don't believe you ought to be bringing up your little girl this way"

It was signed by the secretary, Harper Valley P.T.A.

Well, it happened that the P.T.A. was gonna meet that very afternoon

They were sure surprised when Mrs. Johnson wore her mini-skirt into the room

And as she walked up to the blackboard, I still recall the words she had to say

She said, "I'd like to address this meeting of the Harper Valley P.T.A."

Well, there's Bobby Taylor sittin' there and seven times he's asked me for a date

Mrs. Taylor sure seems to use a lot of ice whenever he's away

And Mr. Baker, can you tell us why your secretary had to leave this town?

And shouldn't widow Jones be told to keep her window shades all pulled completely down?

Well, Mr. Harper couldn't be here 'cause he stayed too long at Kelly's Bar again

And if you smell Shirley Thompson's breath, you'll find she's had a little nip of gin

Then you have the nerve to tell me you think that as a mother I'm not fit

Well, this is just a little Peyton Place and you're all Harper Valley hypocrites

No I wouldn't put you on because it really did, it happened just this way

The day my Mama socked it to the Harper Valley P.T.A.

The day my Mama socked it to the Harper Valley P.T.A.

And I thought Guilaini did an *exceptional* job. Politics aside, he did everything you could want as a leas-in: pump up the party, hit the opposition hard (yet with humor), and pump up Palin. Fantastic delivery...

Watching Huckabee and Guilaini perform, I still have to scratch my head that McCain won the nomination.

I take the opposite view. It is no wonder he did not win the nomination. He is as neo-con, extreme right and pre-emptive striker as it comes. That speech by him drove me nuts about how divisive it sounded in its wording. He pumped up mcCain's credentials well but the other stuff was just too vitriolic.

Sick. The RNC used a staged military funeral for a patriotism video shown during the convention.

CBS News found that the footage of the ‘funeral’ and soldiers is what is called ‘stock’ footage. The soldiers were actors and the funeral scene was from a one-day film shoot, produced in June. No real soldiers were used during production.

The footage, sold by stock-film house Getty Images was produced by a commercial filmmaker in Chicago. Both Getty and the production company, Mr. Big Films, confirmed that the footage was shot on spec and sold to the Republican National Committee.

A military funeral as a prop. These people need to be kept as far away from commanding the military from the Whitehouse as possible. That a former POW would allow a military funeral as a prop is sick. That's the leader some of you want to vote for. That's the guy you want putting our troops in harms way.

Gotta hand it to the Republicans they do beat the Dems hands down in the demagoguery department.

Wow, just wow. The disease of militarism on full display.

I didn't look at it from the personal perspective of liking their policies, just handicapping the performances.

In terms of positions, I am dead set against Huckabee - but that doesn't stop me from giving credit where credit is due. The man is Clintonesque in his ability to connect with and move a crowd. He's good - always. Guilaini is more hit-and-miss, and last night I thought he was on his game.

The wierd thing is Cindy McCain's speech: it's surprisingly good, better than most of the politicians. I had no idea she had any talent in tis area. And yet, the crowd reponse is surprisingly muted, missing alot of otherwise well-delivered applause lines. I can only assume they are looking ahead to McCain himself.

Where's the right-wing outrage for the GOP using 9/11 footage? This is the party that gets outraged when the press takes photos of fallen servicemen's coffins being loaded onto a plane, yet they have no opinion when their party stages a military funeral and shows a slo-mo of the plane hitting the Tower at their convention. The GOP exploiting military and civilian deaths to market their ticket. These are not the people that should be leading this country.

The Navy announced that military policy was violated in calling attention to the active-duty military personnel at the convention. It's apparently a well-known and strict policy - the men had permission to be there in civvies but were not supposed to be used as props. I guess McBomb and the head of the Alaska NatGard are not aware of this policy for all they are such big military people? Hmmmm?

I did also enjoy the "Prosperity" card. I guess they had to use those because to have printed "6.1% unemployment rate / Record-setting foreclosures / Dow down 3000 pts in a year / etc" would not fit.
