Ever wonder what these pundits REALLY think?

I wish these pundit types always talked like this! (In case you never heard of him Murphy is a Republican consultant who has worked with guys like Romney, Arnold S., Jeb Bush etc.)

Murphy: Um, you know, because, I come out of the blue swing state governor world. Engler, Whitman, Tommy Thompson, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, I mean, and these guys, this is all like how you win a Texas Race race, just run it up, and it's not gonna work.

Noonan: It's Over.

Murphy: Still, McCain can give a version of the Lieberman speech and do himself some good.

Todd: Don't you think this Palin pick is insulting to Kay Baily Hutchinson

Noonan: Saw kay this morning

Todd: She's(?) never looked comfortable up there..

Murphy: all bummed out.

Todd: I mean, is she really the most qualified woman they could turn to?

Noonan: The most qualified? No. I think they went for this, excuse me, political bull sh-- about narratives...

Todd: Yeah, but what's the narrative

Murphy: I totally agree.

Noonan: Every time Republicans do that, because that's not where they live and it's not what they're good at, they blow it.

Murphy: You know what's the worst thing about it, the greatest of McCain is no cynicism, and..

???: This is cynical.

??: And as you called it, gimmicky

Ooops, looks like I'm 10 minutes late to the party!

It's worth repeating.

I'm not sure, however, whether I have a lot more respect or less respect for Noonan and Murphy. That would be a good argument and discussion here. They can't go around saying what they really feel. I was a little surprised earlier today when I saw Noonan how she criticized the convention last night, although, granted, she is one who will often speak her mind. She just rarely does it against her party. But to be fair, neither of them could have said what they said off camera, on camera, and still have jobs.

Tell you what though, their off air analysis was spot-on! I wonder what they had just said in the on-air segment?

I just thought it was ironic that the guy who claimed I was spamming the board reposted something.

I really have no issue with it though, it's all good.

I'm not sure if I remember what you're referring to. I was probably high on LSD at the time.

Well Noonan is right. Republicans do much better with ideologues and ideological hawks than with narrative .

Reagan was a wet dream because he offered both. When people are in doubt in the middle they choose ideologues because for better or worse they think they understand what they are getting.

McCain's pick is asking the electorate to "buy into" the Sarah Palin story and suddenly her ideology becomes murky.

In the first week they have failed to sell the narrative of reform.

Contrast that to someone who is clearly much more ideological. Imagine if McCain had chosen Newt Gingrich as a VP candidate. His career is already thoroughly vetted warts and all and the media isn't talking about who Newt is, but what Newt stands for....that is the Republican wheelhouse.
