Frez Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 They have gutted their farm system and traded their best prospects. That is why the single most important event of the whole summer was when they could not get Randy Johnson out of Arizona. Johnson wanted to come here in the worst way and the Yankees were desperate for him to come here. There was just one small problem: The Yankees had no farm-system assets that interested a rebuilding Diamondbacks team. "We have nothing they want," Brian Cashman said one day to friends in his office, after the Johnson deal was dead. The Yankees just crumble in the big moments now. They couldn't put the Diamondbacks away, couldn't put the Angels away in the first round in 2002, couldn't beat the Florida Marlins in the World Series last year. They are the champions of money now. That is all.

Hardly in any of the series Yankee have played in the past number of years have theycrumbled, pretty much they have gone the distance in length of series, foolish to even suggest they crumble, more the case is a team is not going to win all the time, , Yankee fans are most fortunate that for a long period of time they have had a shot and been entertaining It just cannot get any closer. If it makes you feel better to overstate your case , be my guest, but the fact remains the Yankee have the owner who has the resources to see to it they will have another shot again and that is just a fact. I am not interested in ragging on you I am aware folks hate Yankees its been that way for almost 65 years I have followed them, the same comments you make now were made in the 30's, 40's, 50's , right up unto today. At times I wonder how baseball would be with a world league came to be and the Yankee chose to participate leaving the rest of baseball with nobody to hate and fill their stadiums when they come to visit, it would be hell for many not to have a team to hate, what would they ever do, without a villain. What has struck must about the just finished series is how many have dwelt on their hatred of Yankees and seemingly paid so very little attention to the great skills or the team they claim to be fans of. Little talk of great hits, stolen bases, homeruns, great pitching s and smart managing, just smack of hate , somehow that just cannot really be that much fun...

A pitching staff to match the elite batting line up. Oh Yeah they will be back.
