ans4e64 Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Fernando Bryant was supposed to "save" the cornerback situation in Patsie land. Webster is gone, now Bryant. Cue the Ty Law signing.
Big Turk Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Jason Webster has been one of the worst CB's in the NFL the past few years...how he keeps finding teams that want him is beyond me...
buffaloboyinATL Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Jason Webster has been one of the worst CB's in the NFL the past few years...how he keeps finding teams that want him is beyond me... cutting Webster is addition by subtraction. Maybe they just got better and as others have stated here, avoided him injuring one of their own.
Sisyphean Bills Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 They got better by cutting Webster, no doubt about it. I'm much more bummed that they didn't keep Webster or even be so blind as to start the stiff as that would have helped the Bills.
generaLee83 Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Jason Webster has been one of the worst CB's in the NFL the past few years...how he keeps finding teams that want him is beyond me... You gotta admit though, he sure can break one hell of a leg. (Ko Simpson)
Captain Hindsight Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Patriots waived WR Chad Jackson second round pick from two years ago? His injury must be worse than i thought
IDBillzFan Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Also cut John Lynch wow surprise imo.I'm particularly surprised by this move. I would honestly like to know the story behind this because my understanding is that they brought him in, checked him out, and actually gave him a bunch of cash for a single-year performance, no? Now they cut him? I can only imagine he refused to start studying all the "special" tapes that the P*triots keep.
buffaloboyinATL Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Link? link is about Lynch and Jackson. I used to think Jackson was going to be a good one. Injuries can be a real B word. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3562696

Maybe he refused to undergo their special "Fountain of Youth" treatments *cough* HGH *cough cough*.

What are the odds he's back in Foxborough before the end of September?

Let's watch them play before assuming that they're worse. Was nothing learned by their 2nd superbowl, which they won with street free agents in the secondary?
VOR Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Not on the roster opening weekend = 2008 salary not guaranteed. What are the odds he's back in Foxborough before the end of September? I was going to post that factoid and how Lynch could be paid per-game if he's signed after the first game of the season. But a workout was calling me at the gym. Apparently the Jets are sniffing around Lynch now that he's been cut. If they guarantee him he'll be on the opening-day roster, he may just take it.
JoeF Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 They just signed Deltha O'Neal....broke into SportsCenter to give the news.
/dev/null Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 cutting Webster is addition by subtraction. My thoughts exactly
/dev/null Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Apparently the Jets are sniffing around Lynch now that he's been cut. If they guarantee him he'll be on the opening-day roster, he may just take it. Are they trying to sign the 2001 NFC Pro Bowl roster?
MattM Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 They just signed Deltha O'Neal....broke into SportsCenter to give the news. And on the Pats* message boards they think this is the greatest signing since they got Randy Moss for peanuts last year--he's two years removed from being a playmaker or having decent numbers and lost his starting job last year to a rookie, but who knows, maybe he'll pan out for them, much like Fernando Bryant and Jason Webster did....
