Spanky46 Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Willie Anderson (OT) was released by the Bungles today because he would not take a pay cut. I wouldn't mind seeing the Bills pick him up, but there is going to be a lot of competition for his services. Here's the link.... http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/08/30/...illie-anderson/

ganesh Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 God I hope not!! Todd Wade has been released by the Washington Redskins. He is probably a decent Veteran backup LT (He was started for Miami a couple of years ago) and the Bills may pursue him to solidify their T position.
ans4e64 Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 The Bengals are a joke. They won't cut average players who do drugs, brake the law and shoot people, but they'll cut outstanding franchise veterans because they won't take a pay cut.
Tim Anderson's Lunch Pail Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Don't even begin thinking he is an option here. The Peters thing won't go on forever, and Anderson isn't a player to be headed to the bench when Peters finally shows. Wade would be a better option, however I think we'd be better served keeping Bell on the active roster rather than risking he makes it through waivers. I have to believe a team like Indianapolis or Detroit would consider claiming him after they saw his talent first hand.
billybob Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 If Anderson was a LT I'd make more sense cause then you could move Walker back to RT- he's 33 which isn't too old because OL guys often play at a high level past their mid 30's but he is coming off injuries ( a knee and a foot) and both those injuries can really linger on a big man. If he could and would move to RG I'd take him in a minute.
VOR Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 He'll get a large offer to start at RT for some team. I don't know which, but I know it won't be the Bills.

John from Riverside Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I think the bills are a perfect situation for Willie Anderson........do you really want Kirk Chambers starting at RT going into the season? NFW
Captain Hindsight Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I think the bills are a perfect situation for Willie Anderson........do you really want Kirk Chambers starting at RT going into the season?NFW Ya but when that holdout guy, cant remember his name comes back we have 3 starting tackles and one has to go. Id rather keep he who shall not be named til he reports and walker. JMO

gobillsinytown Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 ....and some Bills fans think Ralph is a bad owner. Cincinnatti is going to be a disaster this year.
JStranger76 Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 That would be the ideal situation billybob, sign Anderson and move him to RG if and when Peters returns. Unfortunately, the Butler extension complicates things.......
Marv Levy Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 So how does it work to pick up other teams cut players? Would the Bills have to release someone else on their roster to aquire a new guy? Sorry for a basic question, I just don't know the system. Seems a couple of guys out there now, that maybe Buffalo would look at. Another TE possibly? GO BILLS!!
VOR Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 If it's a vested veteran, he becomes a FA immediately. If it's not a vested veteran, he goes on the waiver wire. And yes if the Bills were to sign him, they'd have to cut someone first to make room for him.

JStranger76 Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 We already have the biggest line in the NFL Anderson would make it even bigger, AND better. Butler would be an expensive backup, but oh freaken well. Our run game would get a HUGE shot in the arm, literally. The more I think about it the more I like it. The only slight downside is Anderson is 33 but the future is now. Another move that makes too much sense so I guess it won't be made.
