Directed towards anyone in a management position at work

Recommended Posts

My own status is somewhere between worker bee and management type, like senior tech/junior manager type. But you hire somebody to do a job

Then they decide they want a new job. Then they take the next 18-24 months to look for that job. Meanwhile they get paid for the job you hired them. Collect the benefits offered to the position. Every once in a while they'll show up for that job as it suits them.

But you can't fire them for looking for another job. And if they don't get the new job then you're stuck with them

Sound familiar? I'm looking in your general direction Barack/John/Joe/Sarah

I think it is fair to say the tax payers get shafted in these situations. I think resigning, or at least handing over temporary control to your 2nd in command if appropriate, would be a worthy debate.

I get what you are saying... Disagree with me if you want, but I would say looking to move up to another political position is part of the original job... No?

What I am saying is that you can't look at these political positions like other jobs.

I always thought representing your constituents was part of the job of a Senator, Governor, or Congressman/woman

But then again what do I know. I'm just a proletariot

It is... But, so is taking the chance to move up. I think it is part of the job. If they do get elected, their constituents stand to gain pull.

That's more of a career move. Like taking college credits or certification tests with the company education benefits and moving on the next better paying company

I don't know... Does AZ and IL stand to make out better should their respective Sen. wins big? Now, the loser is taking a chance to do their constituents a disservice... Or is it really a disservice.

Again... I see what you are saying... But, public service is different... There is always the benefit to be a bigger, more higher up steward for the people... And I hope most voters see that...

Don't mean to sound circular here, but public service is service to the public

Bigger and higher up, is service to one's own ego

Not really... You don't think Bush just by being President has brought a lot more to Texas? Don't look at it so myopically.

Myopically?

By being President, what has Bush brought to Texas? Nothing. What has Bush brought to Bush :worthy:

Thanks for proving my point
