bladiebla
Not eligible. And he'll probably be signed by another team. Hmm sounds like a stretch look then, if a guy is brought in that late he'll need a miracle to make the team.
VOR
Hmm sounds like a stretch look then, if a guy is brought in that late he'll need a miracle to make the team. Most players brought in this late would be behind the 8-ball in terms of learning the schemes.
Tsaikotic
Jesse Chatman, RB, signed by Jets and just released. He torched the Bills last year while with the Fins. Of course he'd take Omon's spot and you risk losing him trying to sneak him onto the PS. But a curious move for the Jets. Thomas Jones looks done, they have no one else, and the Jets' O-line still looks suspect. that was a false report...chatmans agent said hes not going anywhere: Chatman Report Wrong

Captain Hindsight
STEELERS SHOPPING LINEMEN? Posted by Mike Florio on August 30, 2008, 12:14 p.m. As they ponder their final roster cuts, the Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly are pondering the possibility of shipping one of their backup offensive linemen out of town via a trade. Per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers are considering trading tackle Max Starks, center Sean Mahan, or tackle Trai Essex. The mere fact that Starks would even be close to the trading block highlights the poor decision to use the transition tag on Starks, which gave him a guaranteed salary of nearly $7 million this year. For roughly $500,000 more, they could have forced Alan Faneca to stay for another year — or at least have gotten something for him in trade from a team like the Jets. Mahan was the starting center in 2007, but lost his job to newcomer Justin Hartwig. Meanwhile, the Steelers already have decided to release receiver Willie Reid and return specialist Eddie Drummond. Thought that was interesting...

Simon
Texans release S Glenn Earl. I don't know if he's completely healthy now or not, but if he is I'd absolutely love to see that guy in a Bills uni. I'm guessing he's not or the Texans never would have released him. Steely Dan
Williamson, Jones not among 19 released by Jags Posted: August 30th, 2008 | Adam Schefter | Tags: Jacksonville Jaguars, roster cut-down Sometimes it’s not who a team cuts that’s newsworthy; it’s who they didn’t. The Jaguars didn’t cut wide receiver Troy Williamson, nor did they cut wide receiver Matt Jones. Williamson was impressive during OTA’s and minicamp, but struggled some this summer. But he produced in the preseason finale, catching four passes for 84 yards, including a 51-yard touchdown. That catch likely saved his job. Jones’ status was not in question during camp but rather before it. Two weeks before training camp, an Arkansas police offer spotted Jones in his car allegedly cutting up cocaine wit a credit card. Jones was charged with possession of cocaine. He now faces an Oct. 10 trial date — two days before Jacksonville plays Denver -– as well as jail time. Yet the Jaguars never have wavered in their support for Jones, as a person and player. Whereas some thought he would struggle to make the roster, Jones has played well enough to win a starting job this summer. The Jaguars are fully aware they could lose Jones later this season but they also recognize there’s nothing they can do except allow the legal process to take its course. The Jaguars did release 19 players Saturday as well as place two players on the Physically Unable to Perform list in DB Chad Nkang and DL Jeremy Mincey. DT Jonathan Lewis was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury suffered in the preseason finale at Washington. Included in Saturday’s cuts were six veterans: QB Todd Bouman, RB Ciatrick Fason, LB Tony Gilbert, DT Jesse Mahelona, DE Kenny Pettway and DE Bo Schobel. Also waived was fifth-round draft pick DB Trae Williams and 12 other first-year players: TE Chris Brown, DE Mkristo Bruce, OT Andrew Carnahan, TE Charles Davis, CB Isaiah Gardner, CB Michael Grant, WR Ryan Hoag, G/OT Pete McMahon, C/G Drew Miller, CB Rashod Moulton, LB Lamar Myles and WR D’Juan Woods. Martin is the second Ravens player suspended for the team’s Sept. 7 game against the Bengals. CB Fabian Washington was suspended Aug. 1 for violating the league’s Substance Abuse Policy. Texans put Brown on injured reserve Posted: August 30th, 2008 | Adam Rank | Tags: Houston Texans, roster cut-down The Texans have placed running back Chris Brown on injured reserve, putting the team at the 53 player limit. Brown, 27, has battled a back injury through training camp after signing a two-year contact in the offseason with the Texans. He appeared in 12 games and made only one start for the Titans in 2007, rushing for 462 yards with 5 touchdowns. The Texans released Roosevelt Colvin and Marcel Shipp on Friday.
