ExiledInIllinois
I agree. Sad, but thats the reality. If he does win, I dont think he makes to the swearing in. Really? Did you see the History Channel's special on Air Force One? The way they protect the President's nowadays, I would be really surprised if one ever gets assainated again. I can't believe that amidst all the discussion of Georgia, everybody forgot about the most recent attempt on an American President: Georgia, 2005. When the President began speaking, the man pulled the pin and hurled the grenade in the direction of the podium. It landed just 61 feet from where the President, First Lady Laura Bush, the President and First Lady of the Republic of Georgia, and other officials sat. The hand grenade failed to detonate, thankfully, as the red handkerchief wrapped tightly around it didn’t allow the firing pin to deploy fast enough.: To chants of “Bushi, Bushi”, he called Georgia a “beacon of liberty” in the region and added: “You gathered here armed with nothing but roses and the power of your convictions, and you claimed your liberty.” He said: “You’ve got a solid friend in America.” The guy was eventually found, captured after a shootout, and given a life sentence. It has never been satisfactorily publicized whether he acted alone or was an agent of a foreign power. According to press reports, he had lived below poverty with his mother all his life, yet had a house full of weaponry. http://www.ndgold.com/2007/01/george-w-bus...ttempt-in-2005/ http://english.pravda.ru/accidents/21/96/383/15835_Bush.html

That is another story... I just said, I would be really surpirsed if the act was carried out successfully. Really... I am not saying 61 is far, by no means... It is close! Really... I am not saying 61 is far, by no means... It is close! I didn't mean to suggest you did. I was only making the point that amidst all the discussion about Russia's motives, nobody brought up the assassination attempt. Had the two presidents been killed, it would have been a perfect excuse for the Russian peace keepers stationed in South Ossetia to quickly move in to 're-establish order.'
