Video game industry is becoming more and more like the movie industry. Just find a popular old title and recycle it with the latest eye candy

Well.. sort of. I mean Duke Nukem 3D has been in dev or what.. 10 years now? So they started it not long after the original. Just took em a while

You're thinking of Duke Nukem Forever.

That being said, $10 to add online play to an old classic isn't exactly just the latest eye candy.

Honestly don't believe that game is going to arrive. I think its vaporware. But vid games have been into sequels for a long time now. How many versions of Final Fantasy are there? Consoles are really bad for this. Original games like Bioshock, Crysis are hard to come by.

Bioshock is spiritual sequal to System Shock (mid 90s DOS game) and is built on the Unreal engine

Crysis on the other hand is an original storyline and engine, but dervies alot of its gameplay from Far Cry. Crysis was also announced to be the first part of a trilogy - so like Duke Nukem, Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, etc there's going to be sequals

I think your ire is unwarranted, at least in the case of Wolfenstein.

There have been a ton of games in that 'series' going back to the Apple days and each title has been great, up to and including ET and the last Xbox version. I've been pining for a 360 Wolfenstein for some time now. I don't see it as a simple cash grab, especially since id is involved.
