PastaJoe Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Interesting food for thought: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/18/caf...cain/index.html
Cornerville Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Yes. McCain is the devil. George is Satan and CNN and all your libs are correct. Rid of them all and everything will be rosy again
erynthered Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 It still always amazes me how some people make a living. This article is a good reason why some people should be drawn and quartered. Then again, Im shallow.
DC Tom Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I didn't make it past the first sentence... Russia invades Georgia and President Bush goes on vacation Uh, no...he went to a major international event hosted by our nation's largest trading partner. Maintaining goodwill with China might just be a little more important than being physically present in the White House when a former superpower invades a postage stamp of a nation.

Maintaining goodwill with China might just be a little more important than being physically present in the White House when a former superpower invades a postage stamp of a nation. He wasn't referring to Bush attending the opening ceremony of the Olympics you moron, he was referring to the fact that Bush was vacationing in Crawford!. There's nothing to worry about though, Bush is terrific at handling crises while on vacation. Just look at how well he handled the August 6th 2001 PDB...actually forget that example...what about his response to Hurricane Katr......ummmmm...hmmmmm...maybe we should be worried!

Maintaining goodwill with China might just be a little more important than being physically present in the White House when a former superpower invades a postage stamp of a nation. Then there's the little matter of how the POTUS is NEVER "on vacation." He's working whether he's in Crawford or D.C. Ironically, pretending that Bush is "on vacation" is in itself a shallow, liberal talking point. Nice to see Jack Cafferty maintaining a consistent level of quality in his work. Of course, this crap is linked on the front page of CNN.com.

DC Tom Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 He wasn't referring to Bush attending the opening ceremony of the Olympics you moron, he was referring to the fact that Bush was vacationing in Crawford!. Russia invaded Georgia three days ago? Or did you simply fail to check the byline?

Just how stupid does someone need to be to not understand that the President doesn't go 'on vacation' like the rest of us peons. What do these idiots think, that he puts an 'Out of Office' message on his email and he'll find out about things when he gets back to the office??
SilverNRed Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Bush sure was "on vacation" during Hurricane Katrina. On some perverse level, I can almost appreciate how excited you are about repeating every liberal talking point imaginable. I, too, would love to live in a world where all complex thought could be cast aside in favor of simple talking points. Been a while since anyone played the "Hurricane Katrina was because of Bush" card.
SilverNRed Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Just how stupid does someone need to be to not understand that the President doesn't go 'on vacation' like the rest of us peons. What do these idiots think, that he puts an 'Out of Office' message on his email and he'll find out about things when he gets back to the office?? Not necessarily stupid; he could just be lying about the POTUS being "on vacation" to help make his point. I'm not sure that's actually preferable. Stupid? Disingenuous? Maybe both? Thank you, PastaJoe, for bringing this here.
KD in CA Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Been a while since anyone played the "Hurricane Katrina was because of Bush" card. It doesn't take much to get molton, elliot, JK going. Isn't it amazing how everytime one gets banned, another brand new retard pops up here and becomes an overnight spammer?
JK2000 Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Russia invaded Georgia three days ago? Or did you simply fail to check the byline? Can you please admit you were wrong? You know that the Russia/Georgia crisis was still going on when Bush left for Crawford and has continued to today, right? Considering this and the fact that the new US/Poland missile defense deal has Russia threatening to go nuclear on Poland makes Bush look like a slacker for deciding to go clear brush with Barney on the ranch.

Considering this and the fact that the new US/Poland missile defense deal has Russia threatening to go nuclear on Poland makes Bush look like a slacker for deciding to go clear brush with Barney on the ranch. Wouldn't completing the "new US/Poland missle defense deal" prove that Bush is doing more than slacking? And why are you still trying to sell the absurd notion that President Bush isn't capable of working when he's at his house in Texas?
JK2000 Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Just how stupid does someone need to be to not understand that the President doesn't go 'on vacation' like the rest of us peons. What do these idiots think, that he puts an 'Out of Office' message on his email and he'll find out about things when he gets back to the office?? So what would you classify Bush being so engrossed in his vacation that it required Dan Bartlett to make Bush a DVD of Katrina news footage 2 days after the hurricane made landfall? When Bush goes on vacation Bush goes on vacation. In fact, wasn't Bush playing guitar while people were committing suicide in the Superdome? Looks to me like Bush was "vacationing like the rest of us peons" on 8-30-2005.
JK2000 Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Wouldn't completing the "new US/Poland missle defense deal" prove that Bush is doing more than slacking? Are you aware that the deal was finalized before Bush's vacation? And why are you still trying to sell the absurd notion that President Bush isn't capable of working when he's at his house in Texas? Absurd notion? Look at Bush's track record of screwing things up while he's on vacation.
KD in CA Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Absurd notion? Look at Bush's track record of screwing things up while he's on vacation. Dammit George, I told you to get SPF 15...can't you do anything right?!?!? You really are a simple creature, aren't you?
SilverNRed Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Are you aware that the deal was finalized before Bush's vacation? Actually, yes, I was aware of that. Damn you, President Bush, for getting things done so quickly! Absurd notion? Look at Bush's track record of screwing things up while he's on vacation. Yes, there you go, keep using the word "vacation" over and over and over. There's no such thing when you're the President of the United States. He's at work whether he's in Texas or in D.C. You must be pretty desperate to be rolling out the Bush/Katrina myths this many years on.
SilverNRed Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Debunking the Myths of Hurricane Katrina by Popular Mechanics MYTH: "The aftermath of Katrina will go down as one of the worst abandonments of Americans on American soil ever in U.S. history."--Aaron Broussard, president, Jefferson Parish, La., Meet the Press, NBC, Sept. 4, 2005 REALITY: Bumbling by top disaster-management officials fueled a perception of general inaction, one that was compounded by impassioned news anchors. In fact, the response to Hurricane Katrina was by far the largest--and fastest-rescue effort in U.S. history, with nearly 100,000 emergency personnel arriving on the scene within three days of the storm's landfall. Dozens of National Guard and Coast Guard helicopters flew rescue operations that first day--some just 2 hours after Katrina hit the coast. Hoistless Army helicopters improvised rescues, carefully hovering on rooftops to pick up survivors. On the ground, "guardsmen had to chop their way through, moving trees and recreating roadways," says Jack Harrison of the National Guard. By the end of the week, 50,000 National Guard troops in the Gulf Coast region had saved 17,000 people; 4000 Coast Guard personnel saved more than 33,000. These units had help from local, state and national responders, including five helicopters from the Navy ship Bataan and choppers from the Air Force and police. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries dispatched 250 agents in boats. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), state police and sheriffs' departments launched rescue flotillas. By Wednesday morning, volunteers and national teams joined the effort, including eight units from California's Swift Water Rescue. By Sept. 8, the waterborne operation had rescued 20,000. While the press focused on FEMA's shortcomings, this broad array of local, state and national responders pulled off an extraordinary success--especially given the huge area devastated by the storm. Computer simulations of a Katrina-strength hurricane had estimated a worst-case-scenario death toll of more than 60,000 people in Louisiana. The actual number was 1077 in that state. Anyone who wants an accurate understanding of Hurricane Katrina should read the whole thing. Actually, even the people who clearly don't want to understand what really happened should read it.
