LewPort71
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/olympics/be...usa-china_N.htm Somewhere Ray Fosse is empathizing with the Chinese catcher. Wild game. Go USA !!
KD in CA
Don't want to get run over? Don't block the plate. This is a high profile international tournament; team are going to play to win.
ExiledInIllinois
It sure the heck is! See what KD said above!
shrader
Throwing at LaPorta's head seemed like a perfectly reasonable response.
PastaJoe
I'm hoping they have a game tied going into the 11th inning, so they're forced to use the stupid tiebreaker of putting runners on 2nd and 3rd and starting the batting order wherever they want. tennesseeboy
Sure is a contact sport. My kid played high school, junior and college hockey, high school football and soccer, without any serious injuries. Lost a front tooth, broke both arms (catcher) playing baseball. olivier in france
Contact with players sure but don't forget the balls! Just during last season i've been hurt twice during games by balls, hit once on the leg by a batted ball while running from first to second (had to end the game limping badly as we've had yet two hurt players in the game and were only 9 remaining) and a throw from our third baseman (i play 2B) ended just above my eye, i 've needed a couple of stiches.
