It isn't the first time relationship woes have caused a dip in the Genesis frontman's fortunes, with Britain's Daily Telegraph even claiming that divorce settlements have eaten into as much as one-third of his estimated $280 million net worth, nearly $84 million going to his ex-wives.

After taking advantage of technological advances and infamously dumping wife No. 2, Jill Tavelman, by fax back in 1994, he was forced to pay $34 million.

She'd better have been the best demon ever in the sack!! <_<

She looks pretty hot. Not sure she's $46MM hot, but then again when you've got money to burn your scale changes.

p.s. gotta love a guy who faxes in a divorce. <_<

What I don't understand is that he sent Jill that fax in 1994. His second album "Hello I must be going" has the song "I don't care anymore" on it and it was released in 1982. After one of the "I don't care anymore" lyrics he says, almost imperceptably, "Jill". His first wife was Andrea. Genesis went out on tour and the Collins were having their home remodeled and when he came back Andrea was living with the decorator. <_<

At least he got two songs out of divorce #1- "Missed Again" and "In the Air Tonight".

A friend of mine heard an interview with Collins who said "In the Air Tonight" was about a time he was on a date and a group of guys attacked them and raped his date. Later on Collins saw one of the men drowning and didn't do a thing for him except stand on the shore as he screamed for help until he died. It makes sense from the lyrics.

Do we need to get you some help? This is far deeper analysis of Phil Collins lyrics than is healthy for a normal person.

p.s. all the 'In the Air' stories are bullsh--.

Nah, I heard an interview with him about this not too long ago....the words don't mean anything, he just thought they sounded cool. There are tons of theories about it, but they aren't true.

Incidentally, for whatever reason this song is in the warmup music for almost every NFL team.

The story I gave makes a lot more sense than it being about a divorce.

I was a huge Genesis fan until they became uber-commercial after ABACAB. The analysis of Collins lyrics was done by himself. You'd know that had you read the post.
