Beerball Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Spencer Johnson got reps alongside Marcus Stroud at defensive tackle with the first unit defense as Johnson and Kyle Williams continue to battle for the starting role. Perhaps his interest hasn't been peaked yet.
Chandler#81 Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Perhaps his interest hasn't been peaked yet. Johnson has played well so far. I wasn't expecting a lot from him when we signed him, as he was relatively undistinguished and a 'rotation' guy. FWIW, I see the 'starting' competition as between Williams and Johnson too. Not that McCargo is failing, his presence strengthens the whole D-Line overall and he's not going anywhere ('til his contract's up anyway..). Spencer and Kyle are simply outperforming him. Its ALL good!
quikchomp Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Perhaps his interest hasn't been peaked yet. "Piqued"
Beerball Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 "Piqued" chomp this I kid...welcome to the board! What do you think of Johnson beating McCargo? I would have thought Dick would not move so quickly on Johnson. He has played well though.
DrDawkinstein Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 dont Stroud and McCargo play the same spot? so if McCargo were to break into the starters, that would mean Stroud is sent to 2nd string. or am i wrong there?

I would have thought Dick would not move so quickly on Johnson. He has played well though. Dick's more concerned about plugging up the holes. To him, size doesn't really matter as much as performance does. It wouldn't surprise me to see a Johnson in that gap come opening day.
d_wag Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 i don't think it really matters who "starts" - it's a rotational system and all 4 guys are going to see plenty of snaps.........they're all important
MarkyMannn Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 "Piqued" That's your first post?!?!? I hope you haven't peaked with that one, your next post has me piqued
stinky finger Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 chomp this I would have thought Dick would not move so quickly on Johnson. Isn't this redundant....and profoundly gaaaay?
stinky finger Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Perhaps his interest hasn't been peaked yet. Dig the avatar, btw.....at first glance, I thought they were the Osmond bros that didn't make the band. Come to realize they're Mike Phelps' twin bros. just an observation.

devldog131 Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Sounds like dialogue from a cut rate porno flick! That's the idea. It's one long running Dick (Jauron) joke, with a little (Spencer) Johnson in there for good measure.
VOR Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 And then there's this, from today: The starting right defensive tackle position is still clearly up for grabs. Primarily it’s been Kyle Williams and Spencer Johnson rotating in and out sometimes day by day with the first unit, but for the first time in a while John McCargo was given his shot with the ones. With the pads off during the 11-on-11 portions of practice it’s more difficult for the defensively linemen to truly make an impact, but it’s clear that competition is far from over.
