Chargers Reach Deal with Rivers The San Diego Chargers have reached a six-year contract agreement with rookie QB Philip Rivers. He's expected to sign his contract Tuesday, Aug. 24, and be on the field for the team's morning workouts. "This is a fair deal for both Philip and the Chargers," said Chargers General Manager A.J. Smith. "We're just happy to have the negotiations behind us and a bright future ahead for Philip, the Chargers and all Charger fans.
